14 Iraqis Killed, 26 Injured in Attacks, Four Attacks on US Forces, June 7-8, 2009
Yaqen.net reported the following news: - Two policemen were killed in an attack west of Mosul. - On person was killed in a blast in Al-Iskandariya, north of Babil Province. - Seven people were killed, 20 were injured in the Baghdad blast today. - One person was killed, six were injured in a bomb explosion targeting a car south of Baghdad. - Four attacks were reported on US forces today and yesterday. Gunman killed in attack on police in Falluja June 8, 2009 - 11:59:37 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: One gunman was killed in an attack on a police checkpoint in eastern Falluja suburb, a source from the police said on Monday. “The incident took place in Garmatal-Falluja district, east of Falluja city,” Colonel Saad Abbass told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The attack caused no casualties among the police,” he said. “The attacker was identified,” he added. Colonel Abbass did not mention further details, but noted that investigations are still underway in this regard. Falluja city lies 45 km west of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS Casualties from Baghdad blast reach 26 June 8, 2009 - 08:02:49 BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Casualties from the blast that ripped through Baghdad earlier today have reached 26, according to an Iraqi police source. “Six persons were killed and 20 others were wounded when a bomb exploded near a vehicle in Abu Disheer area, southern Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Earlier today, an Interior Ministry source said that three persons were killed and nine others were injured in the blast, which is believed to have been caused by a bomb. SS (P) Policeman wounded in Falluja blast June 7, 2009 - 06:17:21 ANBAR / Aswat al-Iraq: A policeman was wounded when a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) went off in central al-Falluja district on Sunday, a local police source in al-Anbar province said. “An IED went off near a police patrol close to a water reservoir in al-Mualimeen neighborhood, central Falluja, on Sunday evening, leaving a policeman wounded and a patrol vehicle damaged,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The wounded policeman was rushed to the city hospital for treatment while a security cordon was imposed on the blast scene,” the source added. Falluja, the largest city of the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) Body of civilian found in Mosul June 7, 2009 - 05:09:49 NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Policemen in Ninewa province found the body of a civilian man in northern Mosul city on Saturday, a local security source said. “The body, which showed signs of having been shot in the head, was found in al-Sokkar neighborhood, northern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The corpse was removed to a morgue in the city,” he added, not giving further details. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
