Israeli occupation government turns parts of Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound into military zones

Islamic-Christian agency: IOG turns parts of Aqsa into military zones

[ 19/06/2009 - 10:16 PM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

Officials in the Islamic-Christian agency have exposed Thursday an Israeli scheme of isolating important parts inside the Aqsa Mosque and transferring them into closed military zones.

The officials also warned that the Israeli scheme, if passed unopposed, would allow fanatic Jewish groups to occupy those parts similar to what had happened in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil city that led to dividing the mosque between Muslims and Jews.

In a press conference they held in this regard, archimandrite Atallah Hanna and Palestinian chief Justice Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi warned that if Arabs and Muslims remained silent vis-à-vis those Israeli violation, it would send the wrong message to extremist Jewish groups that they could carry out further violations in the Mosque.

The two Palestinian religious leaders also highlighted that the IOA was handing over letters of demolition to many Palestinian homes and buildings in the occupied city of Jerusalem, warning that if those practices weren’t immediately bridled, many Palestinian buildings in the city could be destroyed.

Moreover, both religious leaders considered the speech of Israeli premier Binyamin Netanyahu about Jerusalem, in which he underlined that Jerusalem would remain the undivided capital of Israel, as "declaration of war" against the city.
