Casualties from the two car bombs explosion in northern Mosul on Wednesday rose to 14 dead and 31 wounded, a security source said on Thursday.

“The toll from the two car bombs explosion on Wednesday (July 8) in al-Sada Bawiza and al-Kabbah areas, northern Mosul, rose to 14 dead and 31 wounded, all civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“One dead and six wounded in the car bomb explosion in al-Kabbah region, northern Mosul, while 13 were killed and 25 wounded in al-Sada Bawiza are,” the source explained.

A police source had said yesterday that a booby-trapped car detonated in al-Kabbah area, leaving seven wounded; while another car bomb detonated in al-Sada Bawiza area, killing nine and wounding 15 others.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Eastern Baghdad explosion casualties up to 37

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Casualties from the two bombs explosion on Thursday in Sadr City in eastern Baghdad rose to six dead and 31 wounded, a spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Command.

“The toll from the two bombs explosion in a popular marketplace in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, rose to six dead and 31 wounded,” Qassem Atta told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

A police source had said earlier that one civilian was killed and four were injured in an explosive charge blast in eastern Baghdad.

Second suicide attack in Talafar leaves 75 casualties

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

At least 25 civilians were killed and 50 others were wounded in a second suicide attack in Talafar on Thursday morning, a police source said.

“A suicide bomber blew up an explosive belt strapped to his body in al-Qala region in Talafar, western Mosul, killing 25 civilians and injuring 50,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“The explosion took place shortly after the first blast in the region,” he added.

Local police Chief Col. Ali Hadi Obeid had said earlier that a man wearing an explosive belt detonated himself in al-Qala neighborhood, downtown Mosul (60 km northwest of Mosul), killing five and wounding 60 others, all civilians.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Suicide bombing kills 5, wounds 60 in Talafar

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

Five civilians on Thursday were killed and 60 others were wounded in a suicide bombing that tore through Ninewa’s Talafar district, according to a local police chief.

“A man wearing an explosive belt detonated himself in al-Qala neighborhood, downtown Mosul (60 km northwest of Mosul), killing five and wounding 60 others, all civilians,” Col. Ali Hadi Obeid told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “Casualties are likely to increase,” the colonel noted, explaining that those in a critical condition have been taken to hospitals in the Kurdistan region. A security cordon was thrown around the scene of the blast and a curfew was imposed on the center of the city.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.
