Palestinian infant Nancy Sa'id dies after inhaling white phosphorous emissions

[ 25/01/2009 - 05:39 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

A Palestinian female infant called Nancy Sa'id was proclaimed dead on Sunday after the deterioration of her health as a result of inhaling toxic gas emitted from white phosphorous fired by Israel during its recent war on the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources added that the six-month-old baby died of severe complications in her lungs and respiratory problems.

Meanwhile, a number of nuclear energy experts visited the Egyptian town of Rafah and the border areas with Gaza to examine and measure the rate of radiation after Israel reportedly used depleted uranium during its shelling of the areas near Egypt.

The experts fear that if the soil was contaminated by radiation resulting from phosphorous bombs and depleted uranium, the people there would be vulnerable to cancer and other deadly diseases.

The impact of radiation continues for years in the soil and plants as well as it threatens the fertility of humans and leads to the birth of deformed and ill children.

GAZA, (PIC)--

The Hamas Movement on Monday denied media allegations that the prominent Hamas political leader Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, was wounded in the Israeli occupation forces' three weeks bloody war on Gaza Strip.

Fawzi Barhoum, A Hamas spokesman, said that Dr. Zahar was not injured and that he was working as usual.

Zahar's son also denied the press claim, saying that his father was in good health and working. He added that the rumors were circulated by "his enemies".

Fatah-affiliated websites had claimed that Zahar was wounded in the final days of the IOF aggression and was taken in an ambulance to Egypt for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian man in his fifties was hit with an IOF bullet while in his home.

Local sources said that Subhi Qudaih, 55, was hit with a bullet in his back when IOF troops shot at citizens' homes in Najjar suburb in Khuza'a town east of Khan Younis.
