Greek delegation visits Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis

[ 18/01/2009 - 01:49 AM ]

Khan Younis, (PIC)--

Members of a Greek parliamentary delegation visiting the beleaguered Gaza Strip have expressed shock over the catastrophic conditions in the Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the unjust economic siege imposed by Israel on it.

The delegation was visiting the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis city, south of Gaza Strip, where officials of the PA ministry of health and doctors in the hospital briefed them on the patients' conditions.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Rantisi of the orthopedic department in the hospital explained that many patients had their limbs amputated after they were hit with Israeli phosphorous bombs used against Palestinian civilians. "We had never experienced such cases", said the Palestinian doctor.

For his part, the spokesman of the health ministry Alauddin Al-Battah highlighted the difficulties faced by the hospital due to the big number of Palestinian casualties that were beyond the hospital's capabilities.

"The Israeli war on Gaza was more awful than what the Nazis had done in WWII", said Battah, urging the visiting delegation to convey what they have seen in Gaza to the European peoples.

For their part, the delegation's members expressed their sympathy and support to the Palestinian people, adding that the Greek government and people were following with extreme concern the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Israelis in Gaza Strip.

The delegation expressed horror at what they saw and said they could not imagine how bad the injuries were.
