NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq:

One Iraqi translator was killed when an Iraqi policeman opened fire targeting a U.S. patrol in western Mosul city, a security source from Ninewa province said on Tuesday.

“The incident took place near the 5th bridge in Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, explaining that the attack caused casualties among the U.S. patrol’s servicemen.

“U.S. forces cordoned off the area,” he said.

The source did not mention further details, while U.S. forces have not yet commented on the issue or the related casualties among the patrol’s servicemen.

For his part, a medical source confirmed that the morgue in Mosul received the body of an interpreter.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

4 US soldiers, a translator killed by two Iraqi policemen in Mosul

Yaqen.net reported on Feb 24, 2009 the following news:

- Two Iraqi policemen opened fire at a US patrol in Mosul, killing four US soldiers and their translator. The two policemen were Sa'ad Ahmed Al-Jubouri and Muhammed Muwafaq Al-Nu'aimi. The attack took place near the fifth bridge in Mosul.

This was not the first attack on US soldiers by Iraqi policemen in Mosul. Previously, a policeman called Qaiser Al-Jubouri attacked a US patrol causing US casualties.

أقدم الشرطيان سعد احمد جاسم الجبوري ومحمد موفق النعيمي المنسوبان لشرطة حماية الجسور في الموصل على إطلاق النار باتجاه جنود الاحتلال الأمريكي بالقرب من الجسر الخامس في مدينة الموصل، ما أسفر عن مقتل أربعة من جنود الاحتلال بالإضافة إلى مترجم كان برفقتهم.

وقامت قوات الاحتلال الامريكي على الفور بفرض طوق امني حول مكان الحادث ومنعت اي احد من الاقتراب.

يذكر ان مدينة الموصل شهدت حالات مماثلة سابقا كان من أشهرها قيام الجندي قيصر الجبوري بفتح النار على دورية لقوات الاحتلال ما أدى أيضا الى مقتل وإصابة عدد من جنود الاحتلال.
