OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)--

A group of illegal Israeli Jewish settlers protected by Israeli occupation police, forcefully occupied on Tuesday a Palestinian family's home in Shaikh Jarrah suburb in occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources said that the group took over the home of Hajja Rifqa al-Kurd adding that an Israeli occupation court turned down an appeal by the Kurd family against their house being turned over to the Jewish settlers.

The Palestinian residents of the house were forced out on the street.

Tens of Palestinians demonstrated outside the confiscated house, according to Israeli radio.

Sheikh Jarrah suburb has been the scene of 3 other such confiscations recently. There are 28 other homes that Jewish settlers plan to confiscate on the pretext that they own those homes.

Settlers occupy Al-Kurd home in Jerusalem

Jerusalem – Ma’an –

A group of illegal Israeli settlers accompanied by armed Israeli occupation forces occupied the sealed house of Rifqa Al-Kurd in Shaikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem, at 10am on Tuesday.

Before surrounding and overrunning the Al-Kurd home, the settlers reportedly produced a court order which gave consent to the settlers’ take-over of the house.

The family was not present inside the locked up house, in compliance with a court order issued by the Israeli court prohibiting their entry into their home. On Sunday, an appeal by the Al-Kurd family to return to their home was turned down by an Israeli magistrate’s court.

The latest incident follows a long line of assault and forced entry into Al-Kurd family home. On Wednesday, settlers reportedly threatened and assaulted members of the Al-Kurd family as they stormed the home, before Israeli police intervened.

A similar incident was also reported in early November, in which 30 settlers invaded the same house.

The Coalition for Jerusalem, a Palestinian direct-action group, released a statement condemning the most recent settler take-over of the Al-Kurd home, highlighting that “The law, legal system, political institution and settler organizations in Israel act in total harmony in their disregard to International law … Today's take-over proves again that the colonization of the occupied Palestinian territory continues unabated.”

In early August, Israeli police forced more than 50 members of two Palestinian families, including the Al-Kurds, from their homes in Shaikh Jarrah and allowed Israeli settlers to move in. The evictions of the families went forward despite near-universal condemnation from the international community, including Israel’s closest ally, the US.

An appeal submitted by the family will be heard on 2 December in the Jerusalem District Court.

Bethlehem - Ma'an -

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon "has expressed his dismay at the continuation of demolitions, evictions and the installment of illegal Israeli settlers in Palestinian neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem," a spokesperson said Tuesday.

Speaking from outside the Sheikh Jarrah home of the Al-Kurd family, which was occupied by Israeli settlers earlier in the day, Richard Miron, spokesperson for the UN special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, reiterated the concerns of the UN secretary-general at the continued Israeli violations in Jerusalem.

"Provocative actions such as these create inevitable tensions, undermine trust, often have tragic human consequences and make resuming negotiations and achieving a two state solution more difficult. We reiterate the Secretary General's call for these actions to cease immediately," he said.

Fundamentalist Jewish settlers attack Palestinian villagers in northern West Bank

Monday November 30, 2009 17:01 by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC News & Agencies

On Monday midday, a group of illegal Israeli settlers attacked the village of Bureen near Nablus city in the northern West Bank.

Local media sources said that the settlers stormed the village and attacked the farmers there using batons and rifle buts.

Meanwhile the settlers also attacked the villagers' homes and caused some damage.

Bureen is located near the illegal Israeli settlement of Yitshar. The villagers says that the settlers attack them frequently because they want to take over the villagers' lands to expand their settlement.
