Delegation of SPSD stranded at the Egyptian side of Rafah [ 07/08/2009 - 12:25 PM ] BEIRUT, (PIC)-- Society of Palestinian Scholars in the Diaspora (SPSD) said that the Egyptian authorities barred a delegation representing the society from entering the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing. The society added that the delegation's visit aimed to be part of the efforts to break the oppressive siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. The delegation said that it was determined to enter the Gaza Strip and expressed shock at the Egyptian stand. The society called on the Arab and Islamic countries as well as the Arab League and Organisation of the Islamic Conference to press the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah crossing once and for all and allow free movement of people and goods into and out of the Gaza Strip. SPSD also called on all civil and popular organisations to continue to work towards breaking the Zio-American siege imposed on the Palestinian people with official Arab help. The delegation consists of around 20 scholars headed by Dr. Abdul Ghani al-Tamimi, head of SPSD, members of the executive and members, in addition to a number of Muslim scholars from various countries.
