Libyan ambassador, Ibrahim Al-Dabashi, Criticizes Ban Ki Moon for Ignoring Suffering of Palestinian Women in Israeli Occupation Jails Palestinian ministry for captives praises stand of Libyan ambassador at the UN [ 14/08/2009 - 01:21 PM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- The Ministry of Captive and ex-captives in the Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip praised the Libyan ambassador to the UN for his stand on the issue of Palestinian women captives in Israeli occupation jails. The Libyan ambassador, Ibrahim al-Dabashi, criticized the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, for not including any reference to the suffering of Palestinian women in Israeli occupation jails in his report about Women, Peace and Security. Reyad al-Ashqar, the information secretary of the ministry, said in a statement on Thursday: "We are proud of the Libyan permanent representative at the UN, Ibrahim al-Dabashi, because he exposed the true face of international organizations that intentionally ignore [Israeli] occupation crimes against the [Palestinian] people and its captives." Ashqar added that the by ignoring the suffering of Palestinian captives in Israeli occupation jails the international community becomes a partner in crime with the occupation, because it is this very silence that encourages the Israeli occupation to commit further crimes. He also stressed that the UN resolutions are worthless unless they are implemented and called on Arab ambassadors at the UN to take a similar stand to that of Libya and not to allow the passing of any resolutions that ignore Palestinian rights or Israeli occupation crimes against the Palestinians. Ashqar also criticized the bias in favor of the occupation and accused the international community of double standards in its dealing with the Palestinian issue and called on Arab countries to take a more positive stand towards Palestinian rights.
