2 Palestinians killed, 2 Injured by Israeli Occupation Forces in Gaza Strip

Two Palestinians dead in clashes with Israeli occupation forces in Jabaliya

Date: 04 / 04 / 2009  Time:  09:50
Gaza – Ma’an –

Palestinian medical sources confirmed the death of two Palestinians from Khan Younis Refugee Camp in the southern Gaza Strip. Medical crews evacuated the two from the northern Strip to Kamal Udwan Hospital.

Israeli occupation forces reported killing the two earlier Saturday, saying they were “attempting to infiltrate” the Kfar Azza Kibbutz near the electronic fence border area in the northern Gaza Strip Saturday morning.

The men were identified as 23-year-old Muhammad Al-Hamayda and 26-year-old Jamil Quffa.

Israeli army sources said a “Golani unit spotted two Palestinians trying to sneak through the fence.” According to the report soldiers approached the men and shot them at close range; the men died instantly.

Israeli troops then reported finding an “explosive device” near the bodies on the men, as well as un-described weapons. No Israeli casualties were reported.

Earlier in the day Palestinian medics said two Palestinians were injured in armed clashes between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli occupation forces east of Jabaliya.

According to Muawiya Hassanain, director of the Ambulance and Emergency Services in the Palestinian health ministry, the two were injured near the eastern cemetery in Jabaliya, and medics are having trouble accessing the injured to evacuate them to hospital.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli forces were firing shells and heavy gunfire as clashes continue into the morning.

Army occupation kills two Palestinians in northern Gaza

Saturday April 04, 2009 11:49 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies

Israeli occupation army radio reported on Saturday morning that soldiers shot and killed two Palestinian gunmen who approached the border fence in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

Army officials told the radio that the two gunmen exchanged fire with the army east of the Jabalia refugee camp after they attempted to infiltrate into Kfar Azza Kibbutz.

Soldiers said that automatic rifles and an explosive charge were found in the possession of the two slain fighters.

An Israeli army spokesperson told the Ramattan news agency that the soldiers spotted two gunmen approaching the kibbutz and opened fire at them.

Palestinian medics said they were not allowed to evacuate the bodies of the men as the army barred them from entering the area.

After the attack, Israeli soldiers fired a number of artillery shells near the attack site; no injuries were reported.
