Ahmed Bahar Tours Tanaf Refugee Camp on Iraqi-Syrian Border [ 29/04/2009 - 10:45 AM ] DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the acting speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, and the accompanying delegation on Tuesday toured the Tanaf camp for stranded Palestinian refugees on the common Iraqi-Syrian borders. Bahar and the accompanying team members went in the company of Thamer Meshainesh, of the league of Palestinian refugees in Iraq, and were warmly met by the refugees trapped on the Arab borders for three years. The league said in a statement on Tuesday that Bahar told the refugees in a statement that the PLC would never cease efforts to solve the problem of Palestinian refugees in Iraq. He noted that the Palestinian refugees were insisting on their right to return to their homeland regardless of the harassment in the host country following the American occupation. The acting speaker appealed to the Arab and Islamic countries to support the Palestinians in Iraq and to ensure their rights. He toured the camp, visited the mosque and school and listened to the refugees' suffering and problems during a meeting with a committee representing the camp inhabitants. Bahar distributed 100 dollars for each family and 50 dollars for each bachelor. Yehya Yousef, head of the camp's committee, thanked Bahar for the visit, noting that Hamas was among the pioneer parties taking care of the camp refugees. He denounced the PA leadership for ignoring their ordeal, pointing out that none of the PA officials had visited the camp.
