61 Iraqis Killed, 107 Injured, in War Attacks, 24 Arrested

Yaqen.net reported the following news:

- 2 people were killed, 8 were injured in two car bomb explosions in Al-Hurriya area, in Baghdad.

- A roadside bomb exploded under a US patrol in Al-Khadhra area, in Baghdad, another exploded in Al-Sha'ab area.

- Al-Sadr car bomb explosion death toll increased to 41 deaths and 68 injuries.

- 5 people were killed, three were injured by a bus explosion south of Baghdad.

- 3 Iraqis were killed, six were injured by fire from US soldiers in Al-Riyadh area, south of Kirkuk.

- 24 Iraqis were arrested by Iraqi forces in Dhi Qar and Diala Provinces.

- An Iraqi policeman was killed, three were injured in two separate attacks in Mosul.

- An Iraqi soldier was killed, three policemen and two civilians were injured in an attack in Himreen, north of Ba'aqouba.

- A body of an unknown Iraqi was found north of Babil.

More blasts hit Baghdad; 5 casualties

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Five persons on Wednesday were injured in a car bomb explosion in western Baghdad, the sixth to hit the Iraqi capital today.

“On Wednesday evening, a car bomb detonated in al-Shurta al-Raba'a area, western Baghdad, leaving five persons wounded,” an Iraqi police source said.

Earlier today, four car bombs detonated in the capital Baghdad.

An official spokesperson for Baghdad’s Operations Command (BOC) said that two car bombs exploded in Baghdad’s Sadr City, leaving nine dead and 72 wounded.

The first was next to Maridi market and the second near the city’s market, according to the official.
Meanwhile, two cars rigged with explosives went off simultaneously in Jaffat Street of the predominantly Shi'i city of al-Hurriya, leaving an unknown number of casualties.

Five persons were killed and eight others were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Baghdad’s Sunni area of al-Doura.

2 gunmen killed in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

Gunmen attacked an Iraqi-U.S. force while it was distributing small loan forms to activate the local economy in Kirkuk, the U.S. army media spokesperson said on Wednesday, explaining that the force responded killing two of the gunmen and wounding a third one.

“The incident took place in Al-Riyadh neighborhood, southwestern Kirkuk,” Salam Saeed told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

One woman and one U.S. soldier were wounded as one of the attacking gunmen used a grenade,” he said.
Saeed did not mention further details.

The oil-rich city of Kirkuk lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
