Iran files complaint against Israel over threats Wednesday April 15, 2009 13:10 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies Following the recent comments by Israeli President Shimon Peres that Israel would use military force to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Iran has filed an official compliant to the United Nations. Iranian un ambassador; Mohammad Khazaee - Image by Al Manar Iran said that Peres' statements are “unlawful and impudent” and could be interpreted as being part of Israeli preparations for launching an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities. The Islamic Republic said that its nuclear facilities are meant for peaceful purposes, such as generating electricity, and do not violate the Nonproliferation Treaty. The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammad Khazaee, sent a letter to the Mexican UN ambassador, Claude Heller, informing him that the Israeli threats violate the UN charter, and demanded that the international community respond to them. The letter came two days after the Israeli president said that Israel would use force if Iran does not soften its stances on the uranium enrichment program. Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said on Monday that Iran will not stop its nuclear program, and that his country welcomes constructive talks about its nuclear agenda with the five permanent members of the Security Council; the United States, Russia, China, France, Germany and Britain. Khazaee said that the Israeli threats are “criminal” as there were made against a sovereign county. Khazaee added that the threats expose “the real Zionist intentions, and the intentions of “Zionist warmongers”. US and Israel to carry out joint drills to test ballistic missile systems [ 14/04/2009 - 04:38 PM ] OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Hebrew radio reported Tuesday that Israel and the US will carry out joint military drills described as the largest of their kind in order to test three missile ballistic defense systems. The drills will test the launching of the second generation of the Israeli-made missile defense system called Arrow in addition to the Thaad missiles and the ship-based Aegis ballistic missile defense systems that are made in the US. According to the radio, the purpose of these military exercises is to create the necessary infrastructure that would enable interoperability between Israeli and American ballistic missile systems in case the US administration decided to deploy them in Israel in the event of any conflict with Iran, like it did during the first Gulf war in 1991.
