Khudari denounces repeated Israeli closure of Gaza crossings [ 15/09/2008 - 11:55 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the anti siege committee, has denounced the Israeli occupation authority's repeated closure of the Gaza commercial crossings for trivial reasons. Khudari in a press statement after Israeli war minister Ehud Barak's decision to close the crossings on Monday described the decision as a "serious violation and a Zionist escalation that infringes on lives and needs of citizens" in Gaza. The MP held the IOA responsible for any repercussion as a result of the decision, and added that the crossings were already partially working contrary to conditions of the truce that was concluded three months ago. For his part, Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, the Hamas spokesman in Gaza, cited the IOA closure as another proof of its insincerity and non-commitment to the calm conditions. He said in a press release on Monday that the crossings were semi-paralyzed and the quantity of a big number of goods was reduced. The spokesman urged Arab and Islamic forces along with freedom loving people in the world to organize rallies and marches in support of ending Gaza siege. Barak had ordered the closure of the Gaza crossings after a locally made missile was fired from Gaza into the settlement of Sderot on Sunday evening.
