- 20 bodies were found in a mass grave in Tala'afar, on Tuesday.

- 4 were killed, 10 were injured in al-Jihad neighborhood, in Baghdad.

- 4 were killed, 4 were injured in a bomb explosion in Mosul

INA reported that seven people were killed, 19 were injured in the Falasteen Street explosion in Baghdad on Wednesday.

Eastern Baghdad blast kills, wounds 22

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Twenty two persons were killed or wounded on Wednesday evening in an explosion that ripped through eastern Baghdad, a police source said.

“This evening, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police patrol vehicle in front of a soda store in Falasteen St., eastern Baghdad, killing five persons and wounding 17 others, including three police personnel,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

The source did not provide further details.

Violence kills 1 civilian, wound 2 in volatile Ninewa

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: One civilian was killed and two others wounded in separate violent acts in the volatile province of Ninewa on Wednesday, a security source said.

“A roadside bomb went off in front of a private electricity generators, leaving its operators killed in Badoosh, west Mosul,” a Mosul security source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“A second roadside bomb went off against an Iraqi army patrol, wounding one civilian in al-Arabi district, north Mosul.”

The source highlighted one national policeman was wounded when gunmen opened fire on his patrol near Ibn al-Atheer petrol station, west Mosul.

4 policemen wounded in Mosul

Four policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb went off targeting their patrol southeastern Mosul city, a source from Ninewa police said on Wednesday.
“The attack took place at al-Wehda neighborhood,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The explosion caused heavy damages to the policemen’s vehicle,” he added.

The source did not mention further details, but noted the injured policemen were admitted to hospital for treatment.
Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

Iraqi soldier hit by U.S. vehicle in Diwaniya dies

The Iraqi soldier who was hit by a U.S. military vehicle yesterday died today, according to a military source from Diwaniya province.
“The soldier died at the U.S. army military hospital in Balad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
Yesterday, the deputy commander of the Iraqi army 8th division said that a steel column that was linked to a U.S. military vehicle hit an Iraqi soldier, wounding him seriously, denying reports that the soldier was injured by random U.S. fire.

But earlier, a source told Aswat al-Iraq that a soldier from the Iraqi Army’s 8th Division was wounded in the head when a U.S. patrol vehicle randomly opened fire upon its arrival at a security checkpoint (5 km south of Diwaniya city).
Diwaniya city lies 180 km south of Baghdad.

Sniper kills Iraqi soldier in western Mosul

An Iraqi soldier was killed on Wednesday by a sniper fire in western Mosul, a police source said.
“A sniper shot and killed an Iraqi army soldier in al-Tank neighborhood in western Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The body was sent to the morgue,” he added.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.

2 cops wounded by bomb blast in Kirkuk

Two policemen were wounded on Wednesday in a bomb explosion in central Kirkuk, a police source said.
“An explosive charge exploded inside a car in al-Tarbiya street in central Kirkuk, injuring two policemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The wounded were rushed to the Kirkuk hospital for treatment,” he added.

Gunmen kill, injure 17 family members in Diala

Three children were killed and 14 others, from the same family, were wounded in an armed attack on a Sahwa leader’s house in east of Baaquba, a police source said on Wednesday.

“Armed group launched an attack on the house of Sahwa leader, Abdul Karim Hassan al-Dahlaji, in al-Dahlakiya region in Baladruz district, east of Baaquba, killing three children and injuring 14, including seven women,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

Bomb injures 4 persons in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Four people were wounded on Wednesday when an explosive charge went off targeting a bus carrying employees in northeastern Baghdad, a police source said.

“A roadside bomb was detonated in Ur neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad when a bus carrying employees of the education ministry was passing, injuring four,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The blast caused material damage to the bus and two nearby cars,” he added.

Editor's Note:

Only God knows how many Iraqis are killed everyday. The following represents part of the reporting but readers are advised that the actual number of deaths should very much exceed what's reported.

Concerning deaths of US soldiers, only those US citizens who die in Iraq are included in the statistics. There are no published statistics about US soldiers who die of their injuries after that. There are no published statistics about the deaths or injuries of the private army soldiers (security contractors), or about those without US citizenship.

It is noteworthy that May 20, 2008 news reports showed that death squads which execute Iraqis on daily basis are no longer hiding themselves. Previously, Sunni leaders pointed to Mahdi Army and Badr militiamen as the perpetrators. Now, death squads are composed of the US-recruited Sahwa fighters and policemen.

On September 6, 2008, news reports mentioned the killing of nine Iraqis who were arrested by Al-Muthanna Brigade of the Iraqi Army stationed in the city of Al-Falloujah. There corpses were found with bullets shot on their heads and chests. This incident is evidence that the sectarian-based Iraqi forces have been functioning also as death squads, which killed Iraqis for suspicion of belonging to resistance organizations, without any legal procedures or trials.

Despite the fact that there are scores of organizations involved in the Iraq war, the Iraqi government officials prefer to refer to them as Alqaeda gunmen for propaganda purposes, as mentioned in the June 4, 2008 news report. For accuracy purposes, the term "Alqaeda gunmen" may be replaced with "Iraqi fighters."

Finally, on daily basis, US-led forces arrest scores of Iraqis in an attempt to pre-empt them from resistance. Tens of thousands of Iraqis are still there in US detention camps and in the prisons of the US-backed Iraqi government.
