Illegal Israeli settlers burn Palestinian olive lands in Burqa, Nablus, desecrate Muslim graveyard in Hebron

Israeli settlers burn Palestinian olive lands in Nablus

October 26, 2008,

RAMALLAH, (PIC)--

Illegal Israeli settlers carried out Friday an arson attack on Palestinian olive groves in the Burqa village, north of Nablus, and hurled stones at civilian cars traveling along the main road in the village.

Settlers from the illegal Israeli Yitzhar settlement in southern Nablus seized Palestinian lands in the Asira village and erected a razor-wire fence on the lands. Other settlers also stormed the Badhan village, north of Nablus, and the area of the tourist parks before withdrawing.

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) prevented a delegation from the international solidarity committee from entering the protected area of Amra which is part of the Umm Al-Rayhan village, south of Jenin, because Israeli bulldozers were embarking on destroying dozens of dunums of olive trees in the area.

The IOF troops put a razor-wire fence around the house of Mohamed Sabri in the Amra area after they sabotaged 45 dunums of olive trees belonging to his family. They also barred him and his family from going in or out without permission despite the fact that he possesses official papers confirming his family's ownership of the land and house.

Palestinian local sources said that the IOA still deprives more than 100 citizens from going to work and harvest their olive lands located behind the apartheid wall; although, they submitted requests for permissions.

The IOA attempts to confiscate those lands in the future at the pretext that they are deserted and unplanted.

Qalqiliya – Ma’an –

Israeli occupation forces prevented foreign solidarity activists from helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olives in the village of Kafr Qaddoum on Sunday.

Village leader Muhammad Shetaiwi said Israeli authorities gave farmers permission to harvest their olives, but denied entry to the foreign solidarity activists who came to help the farmers.

When they arrived to their fields, farmers were surprised to discover that Israeli settlers had cut down more than 40 of the trees, Shetaiwi said. He added that solidarity activists gathered in front of the eastern entrance to the Kafr Qaddoum agricultural lands to protest being denied entry.

Illegal Israeli settlers desecrate Muslim graveyard in Hebron after Israeli occupation forces evacuate outpost

Date: 26 / 10 / 2008  Time:  11:50
Hebron – Ma’an –

Right wing illegal Jewish Israeli settlers smashed several head-stones and splashed paint over several others in the Ar-Ras Muslim graveyard in the southern West Bank city of Hebron on Sunday morning.

The settlers were from the illegal Israeli settlement Kiryat Arba, which is close to the graveyard. Several other Palestinian properties in the neighborhood were also vandalized, and more than 25 car tires were punctured.

According to the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, the attacks came as retaliation for the evacuation of a settlement outpost established by Noam Federman, close to Kiryat Arba. The settlement, reported to have been a farm of sorts, was evacuated several teams of Israeli forces including military, police and border guards early on Sunday.

Angry settlers had thrown stones and assaulted Israeli officers and called for a counter attack. Three were arrested during the incident.

Hebron resident Bassam Al-Ja’abari explained that he, his family and neighbors are “assaulted by settlers almost every day, especially those settlers who occupy Al-Rajabi building in our neighborhood.”

Al-Ja'abari also noted that Israeli soldiers do not protect Palestinians from the aggressive setters, but rather “partake in their assaults on Palestinian citizens and their properties.”
