3 US Soldiers,11 Iraqis Killed, Including 4 Executed by Death Squads, According to November 21, 2008 News Reports

Yaqen.net reported the following Tuesday news:

- Two bodies of unknown Iraqis were found in Al-Muqdadiya.

- Two more bodies were also found in Al-Hamidyah village, north of Ramadi.

- Two Sahwa fighters were abducted then killed also in Al-Hamidhiya village north of Al-Ramadi.

- A body of a young woman was found north of Kirkuk.

- Haditha sectarian policemen abducted an Iraqi young woman from her home during a house search, raped her for two weeks then threw her in front of her house. Her family killed her to erase the dishonor and prepared to take revenge from the rapist police force. This is the eighth time such rape crimes have been perpetrated by the police force in the city. The main perpetrator is called Sarmad Shahab Al-Jughaifi and his police commander is called Salam Faraj.

- 36 people, including six policemen, were injured as a result of an explosion in Mosul.

Two U.S. soldiers die in non-combat related incident

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

The U.S. army in Iraq said on Friday that two of its soldiers died in non-combat related incidents on Thursday and Wednesday in central and western Iraq.

“A Multi-National Force – West Marine died as the result of a non-combat related incident here Nov. 19,” said the army in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq.

“A Multi National Division - Center Soldier died of non-combat related causes Nov. 20,” the army said in another statement.

The deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been reported killed in Iraq this month to 13, including eight in non-combat incidents, and to 4,203 the number killed since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.

U.S. soldier dies of non-combat incident in Mosul

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

A U.S. soldier died of non-combat incident in the city of Mosul on Friday, upping to 14 the number killed this month, equal to the same number killed last month, the U.S. army in Iraq said.

“A Multi-National Force – North (MNF-N) died in Mosul of non-combat incident on Friday,” according to a U.S. army statement received by Aswat al-Iraq, giving no further details.

The death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been reported killed in Iraq this month to 14, including nine in non-combat incidents, and to 4,204 the number killed since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.

IED blast, mortar attack in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq:

An improvised explosive device (IED) went off in eastern Kirkuk on Friday while a mortar shell dropped on al-Ihtifalat square southwest of the city, a senior security official said.

“An IED emplaced under the vehicle of a local resident went off in Shoqaq al-Ghaz, eastern Kirkuk, but left no casualties,” Brig. Sarhad Qader, the chief of the Kirkuk Districts’ Police Department, told Aswat al-Iraq.

“In al-Ihtifalat square, southwest of Kirkuk, a mortar shell was fired but left no casualties either,” Qader said.

He did not give more details.

The oil-rich city of Kirkuk lies 250 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

2 blasts kill 3, injure 19 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq:

Three persons were killed and 19 others were wounded in two separate explosions in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Friday, a police source said.

“An improvised explosive device went off near a police checkpoint in the Steen street in al-Doura region in southern Baghdad, killing three people and injuring 15, including three policemen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The blast caused severe material damage to a number of nearby police vehicles,” he added.

The same source said “another bomb exploded targeting an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in al-Mansour region in western Baghdad, injuring four soldiers.”

Editor's Note:

Only God knows how many Iraqis are killed everyday. The following represents part of the reporting but readers are advised that the actual number of deaths should very much exceed what's reported.

Concerning deaths of US soldiers, only those US citizens who die in Iraq are included in the statistics. There are no published statistics about US soldiers who die of their injuries after that. There are no published statistics about the deaths or injuries of the private army soldiers (security contractors), or about those without US citizenship.

It is noteworthy that May 20, 2008 news reports showed that death squads which execute Iraqis on daily basis are no longer hiding themselves. Previously, Sunni leaders pointed to Mahdi Army and Badr militiamen as the perpetrators. Now, death squads are composed of the US-recruited Sahwa fighters and policemen.

On September 6, 2008, news reports mentioned the killing of nine Iraqis who were arrested by Al-Muthanna Brigade of the Iraqi Army stationed in the city of Al-Falloujah. There corpses were found with bullets shot on their heads and chests. This incident is evidence that the sectarian-based Iraqi forces have been functioning also as death squads, which killed Iraqis for suspicion of belonging to resistance organizations, without any legal procedures or trials.

Despite the fact that there are scores of organizations involved in the Iraq war, the Iraqi government officials prefer to refer to them as Alqaeda gunmen for propaganda purposes, as mentioned in the June 4, 2008 news report. For accuracy purposes, the term "Alqaeda gunmen" may be replaced with "Iraqi fighters."

Finally, on daily basis, US-led forces arrest scores of Iraqis in an attempt to pre-empt them from resistance. Tens of thousands of Iraqis are still there in US detention camps and in the prisons of the US-backed Iraqi government.
