US Soldier, 11 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, According to Initial May 12, 2008 News Reports Editor's Note: Only God knows how many Iraqis are killed everyday. The following represents part of the reporting but readers are advised that the actual number of deaths should very much exceed what's reported. Yaqen.net reported the following news: - 4 Iraqi civilians were killed when a US helicopter fired at their pick up truck in the Village of Isdaid, Al-Shurqat, Salahuddin Province on Sunday night. The victims were members of one family. These were Farhan Saleh Uwaid, Ahmed Bashir Eidan, Talie'a Abdullah Tarrah, and Dhahirah Nejm Abdullah. - 5 civilians were killed, 6 were injured, 36 were arrested by Iraqi forces in Mosul. - Humaid Abdul Nabi, a senior official in the the Iraqi Archaeology Department expressed his objection to US forces camping in Iraqi archaeological sites. Amsi.org reported that US forces killed two men, a woman, and a child in their car in the city of Mosul. ======================================= Gunmen kill Defense Ministry’s officer Baghdad - Voices of Iraq Monday , 12 /05 /2008 Time 4:26:09 Baghdad, May 12, (VOI) - A group of gunmen on Monday killed a colonel from the Defense Ministry in western Baghdad, the spokesperson for the ministry said. “Unknown gunmen killed a colonel working for the ministry’s military movement in al-Yarmouk region in western Baghdad,” General Mohammed al-Askari told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). during a security crackdown southwest of the city of Kirkuk on Monday,
an army source said. U.S. army says soldier killed in Baghdad Baghdad - Voices of Iraq Monday , 12 /05 /2008 Time 4:26:09 Baghdad, May 12, (VOI) – A U.S. soldier was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near his patrol in northwestern Baghdad on Monday, upping the U.S. deaths to 11 soldiers in 11 days. "A Multi-National Force – Baghdad (MNF – B) was killed when an IED detonated near his patrol at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday in northwestern Baghdad," according to a U.S. army statement received by Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). "The soldier was rushed to a military medical unit for treatment but he died of the wounds he sustained," the statement read. The death brings to 4076 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of military operations in March 2003. Of this number, 11 were killed in May and 52 in April. AE Security forces kill gunman, arrest 36 wanted persons in Ninewa Ninewa - Voices of Iraq Monday , 12 /05 /2008 Time 4:26:09 Ninewa, May11, (VOI)- Security forces killed a gunman and arrested 36 wanted persons on the second day of a major offensive in Ninewa, a military source said. “Forces from Iraqi army 3rd division killed a gunman in al-Kasak district during clashes with gunmen”, an Iraqi army source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq (VOI). The source added “the forces arrested 36 persons wanted to security forces in different parts of Mosul”. AM
