Palestinian Government in Gaza Appreciates Libyan Stand at UNSC, Deplores Isanoglu's Statement

Haniya gov't appreciates Libyan stand at UNSC

[ 08/03/2008 - 09:19 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The PA caretaker government of Ismail Haniya has expressed its gratitude for the Libyan "responsible" stand at the UN Security Council that blocked the issuance of a resolution condemning the resistance attack on a Jerusalem institute because it did not refere to the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) massacre in Gaza.

Taher Al-Nunu, the government's spokesman, said in a statement on Friday night that the Palestinian government also appreciated the other members who refused to endorse that resolution.

"We ask the world at large to bridle the Zionist attacks on our people and to adopt punitive measures against the Zionist terrorist government that publicly declared intention to inflict a holocaust on the Gaza Strip," he elaborated.

Nunu also said that the Arab countries' warning of canceling the Arab "peace initiative" was a step in the right direction in the light of the continued "Zionist terrorism" and flagrant violation of all human values.

Hamas deplores Ihsanoglu's condemnation of Jerusalem operation

[ 08/03/2008 - 03:13 PM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The Hamas Movement on Saturday said it was dismayed at the statements of secretary-general of the organization of Islamic conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in which he condemned the "heroic operation in Jerusalem", stating that such statements provide the Israeli occupation with pretexts to justify its crimes against the Palestinian people.

In a statement received by the PIC, Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, said that Ihsanoglu's statements collide with the nature of the "Jerusalem martyrdom operation" in its capacity as a reaction to the Israeli crimes. The raid also falls in line with the Palestinian people's natural right to self-defense, he underlined.

For his part, Israeli premier Ehud Olmert expressed his shock at the bold raid in Jerusalem, blaming PA chief Mamoud Abbas for not doing his utmost against the Palestinian resistance despite the ongoing repressive campaigns waged day and night by the PA security apparatuses against Hamas and Palestinian fighters in the West Bank.

The Hebrew radio on Saturday quoted Olmert as saying that the PA was not doing its best to stem the growth of the Palestinian resistance, threatening that the Israeli occupation cannot accept this situation any longer.

Hamas warns Israel of committing more follies and crimes against Palestinians

[ 08/03/2008 - 10:00 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

The Hamas Movement warned on Friday the Israeli occupation of the consequences of committing more follies and crimes against the Palestinian people, reaffirming that all forms of resistance is a natural right for the Palestinian people as long as there is occupation denying their rights and practicing all forms of aggression against them.

In a press statement received by the PIC, Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, underlined that the Jerusalem "martyrdom operation" comes in the context of the natural retaliation against all crimes and massacres committed by Israel against Palestinian citizens, children and women.

Barhoum pointed out that the whole world considered the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza "war crimes," adding that Hamas warned the Israeli occupation more than once of the consequences of continuing to tighten its siege on Gaza and to commit atrocities against the Palestinian people, but it ignored these warnings.

The spokesman called on human rights organizations and the international community to support and protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli arbitrary practices, expressing appreciation to Libya's position and other countries which refused a UN resolution condemning the Palestinian right to resist and defend themselves against the Israeli occupation's crimes.

According to a weekly report issued by the Palestinian center for human rights which covers Israeli violations, the IOF troops carried out from February 28th  to March 5th 45 incursions at least into the West Bank cities, towns and refugee camps during which they broke into and ransacked dozens of residential buildings and houses, and kidnapped 65 Palestinian citizens.

According to the center, the Palestinian people in the West Bank always complain that the PA security apparatuses do not intervene at all to stop the escalated Israeli incursions, but rather they themselves carry out night raids on the cities and towns during which they kidnap and maltreat Palestinian citizens.

The center also underscored that the IOF troops deliberately stormed during this week many West Bank cities, villages and refugee camps in order to suppress peaceful protests organized by Palestinian citizens to condemn the comprehensive Israeli aggression on Gaza.
