Haniya says Israeli war failed and Hamas does not beg for a truce [ 12/03/2008 - 05:25 PM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- Ismail Haniya, the premier of the PA caretaker government, stated on Wednesday that the Israeli war on Gaza failed, highlighting that the Hamas Movement does not beg for a calm with the Israeli occupation. In a lecture delivered at the Islamic University in Gaza, Haniya reiterated that any calm with Israeli must be reciprocal, simultaneous and comprehensive according to the higher Palestinian interest, pointing out there are talks with all Palestinian factions to discuss the truce issue. The premier deplored the PA leadership's statements that Hamas wants a truce with Israel in order to protect its leaders, considering these claims an insult to the victory achieved by the Palestinians against the Israeli aggression. The premier also opined that the last Israeli military escalation on Gaza came after the failure of the Israeli and international siege on the Palestinian people and their democratically-elected government. The premier underscored that the IOF troops are working on eliminating the Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank in connivance with the PA through imposing three options which are whether to hand over weapons, to be arrested or to be assassinated.
