Shaul Mofaz Announcement Takes Israeli Lust for Iranian Oil to Highest Levels, Following Success in Iraq ccu.org, June 9, 2008 The announcement of Shaul Mofaz of an inevitable Israeli attack on Iran has taken the Israeli lust for Iranian oil to the highest levels. A fake reason of invading Iraq was possession of weapons of mass destruction. The real reason was control of Iraqi oil, in addition to the destruction of an Arab adversary to the Zionist state. In 1968, the Kurdish rebel leader, Mustafa Barzani, visited the Zionist state to congratulate Zionist leaders of their 1967 victory and expansion and to ask for their support. Barzani promised to give the Israelis control over the oil fields of Kurdistan when the rebellion is successful. Since 1990, US-UK forces have occupied Iraqi Kurdistan, allowing NATO oil companies to utilize Iraqi Kurdistan oil fields. Following the US-UK invasion and occupation of Iraq, the US-backed Barzani government of Kurdistan started to grant oil concessions and agreements with foreign oil companies without approval of the puppet government in Baghdad. The Barzani-Israeli agreement has been implemented after dismembering Iraq, following the 2003 US-UK invasion. Now, is the turn of Iran. Shaul Mofaz is of Iranian origin, making his announcement more serious, as it has a personal touch. So, if another US-UK invasion of another Middle Eastern state, on behalf of Israel, he may return to his original country to claim his own share of the Iranian oil. Of course, it is simplistic to depend on a statement of one person, even if he is a cabinet member in the Israeli occupation expansionist government, to reach conclusion. The prime minister of the Israeli occupation government Ehud Olmert, US President George Bush, and all the prominent presidential candidates, all talked tough against Iran, and announced their share of threats to attack Iran, under the fake pretext of the Iranian nuclear program. Lust for Iranian oil is no longer hidden among Israeli leaders and their vassals in the Zionist-controlled NATO countries. Israeli officials downplay Mofaz's threat to attack Iran Monday June 09, 2008 07:50 by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC News After the Israeli transportation minister Shaul Mofaz, made a controversial threat on Friday that an attack on Iran was “inevitable”, other Israeli government officials have attempted to backtrack and play down the statement. The Israeli Prime Minister's spokesman stated that “all options are on the table” when it comes to Iran, and did not deny the possibility of an attack that Mofaz threatened. But he stated that international pressure was needed to force Iran to change course, rather than unilateral action by Israel. But others in the Defense Department challenged Mofaz, saying that he was attempting to gain a political edge in the Kadima political party. The statement by Mofaz on Friday caused an international furor, including a race on oil stocks that forced the price up to $139 a barrel. It also led to a response from the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA). "With unilateral military actions, countries are undermining international agreements, and we are at a historic turning point," said Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the IAEA. The Iranian President, too, called for the United Nations Security Council to intervene in response to the threat He called the Israeli threat a blatant violation of international law. The threat of unilateral action by a high-level Israeli official comes just after a meeting between the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the US President George W. Bush, after which Olmert stated that the US was directly in line with Israel on the issue of Iran.
