Israeli Occupation Forces Raid 3 Mosques in the Ramallah District

RAMALLAH, (PIC)--

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) raided on Wednesday evening the village of Silwad, to the north east of Ramallah and stormed the Abu Obaida Mosque at the centre of the village, more troops raided the village of Shiqba to the west of Ramallah.

Locals at Silwad reported that more than 25 military vehicles carrying tens of occupation soldiers raided their village around 10:30 pm and that the occupation soldiers ransacked the mosque and its library.

They also reported that the invading troops confiscated 5 computers used in the mosque's library in addition to paper files in the library.

Shaikh Yasser Hamed, the mosque's Imam said that the attack on the mosque reflects disrespect for faith and places of worship.

A Palestinian youth who was present in the vicinity of the mosque suffered an unprovoked assault by the invading occupation soldiers.

More IOF troops raided the village of Shiqba to the west of Ramallah and stormed and ransacked the village's mosque as well as homes and shops.

Locals said that around six military vehicles raided the village, Thursday around 1:00 am and searched the village's mosque  before storming a number of homes and a mobile phone shop and confiscating a number of computers.

Local sources in the village of Beit Rima to the north of Ramallah also reported that IOF troops raided, at dawn Thursday, the village and ransacked the mosque before confiscating a computer and a number of books.

Israeli occupation troops attack a mosque in Silwad village near Ramallah

Palestinian sources reported that Israeli occupation forces attacked a mosque in the village of Sliwad, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, on Thursday morning.

Witnesses said that at least 25 military vehicles stormed the village then searched the local mosque and library next to it.

Soldiers confiscated files and a computer then left. The resident of Sliwad said that the army has been attacking the village more frequently lately and targeting local organizations.

Israeli occupation forces storm Abu Ubayda Mosque in Silwad

A heavily armed Israeli occupation forces raided the town of Silwad north west of Ramallah on Wednesday evening and stormed the Abu Ubayda mosque in the centre of the town, searching it and confiscating computers and documents.

Eyewitnesses told Ma'an that 25 Israeli military vehicles in addition to dozens of foot soldiers stormed the town at 10.30pm and searched the mosque, the public library and Dar Al-Qur’an Al-Karim (House of Holy Qur’an) - an institute affiliated to the mosque.

The eyewitnesses also said that Israeli forces confiscated five computers from the mosque's library, in addition to a number of files and and books.

The imam of the mosque Sheikh Yasser Hamed described the raid as "an unprecedented event in this town" and said he considered it as "disrespectul to religions and their holy places."

The Israeli army also stormed Silwad sports club, located in the same building as the mosque, confiscating one computer after searching the club's administration offices.
