9 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, Including 5 Executed by Death Squads, According to Initial January 25, 2008 News Reports Yaqen.net news agency reported the following on January 25, 2008: - A police patrol was attacked at Mudhafar Sqauare in Sadr City, resulting in the injury of two members of the security forces. - A member of US-recruited Sahwa fighters was killed, another was injured when their vehicle was destroyed in a roadside bomb attack in Abu Saida, north east of Ba'aqouba. - Severe fighting erupted between Iraqi fighters belonging to Alqaeda in Iraq and US-recruited Sahwa fighters near Al-Tharthar Lake, northeast of Al-Anbar Province. Two Al-Qaeda fighters killed in Samarra Salah al-Din - Voices of Iraq Samarra, Jan 25, (VOI)- Clashes broke out on Friday between the government-backed-tribes fighters and gunmen, believed to be from al-Qaeda network, near Samarra, north of Baghdad, leaving two gunmen dead, a police source said. "Clashes broke out, this morning, between a force from (US-recruited) Samarra Support Council and two gunmen riding a car," the source told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq- (VOI). The source added "the clashes left two gunmen dead." "It seems that the killed gunmen were members of
al-Qaeda network," he explained. Two Iraqi policemen were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near their patrol in eastern Baghdad on Friday, a police source said. "The IED, planted by unidentified gunmen on the Qanat al-Jaysh street, eastern Baghdad, went off when a police patrol was passing by, wounding two of the patrol personnel and causing severe damage to a patrol vehicle," the source told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). Security forces sealed off the area and rushed
the two wounded policemen to a nearby hospital, the source added. The Iraqi police found three unidentified bodies in al-Saqlawiya district, 15 km north of Fallouja city, on Friday, an Iraqi police source in Anbar said. "Iraqi police patrols found three unidentified bodies lying on a road near Saqlawiya. All the bodies, which were taken to the Fallouja public hospital, showed signs of having been shot," the source, who did not want his name mentioned, told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). "Police patrols found two unknown corpses dumped in Baghdad's western neighborhood of al-Sidiya," the source, who asked not to be named, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "The bodies found bore signs of gunshot wounds
