68 Palestinians Killed, 450 Kidnapped During December, 2300 Workers Kidnapped by Israeli Occupation Forces, in 2007 Report: the Israeli army kills 68 Palestinians and kidnap 450 during the month of December 2007 Wednesday January 02, 2008 13:57 by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC News ghassanb at imemc dot org The International Solidarity Association for Human Rights (ISAHR) issued it's monthly report for December 2007 on Wednesday, the report states that the Israeli army have killed 68 Palestinians and kidnapped 450 in the West Bank and the Gaza strip. The association said that among the 68 killed, 47 were killed during extrajudicial assassinations by the Israeli army. From the total 68 Palestinians killed by the army in the month of December 2007, 62 were killed in the Gaza Strip. The report also showed that Israeli troops had kidnapped 450 Palestinians during the month of December 2007; among them were women and children. In the West Bank the report said that the city of Nablus suffered the most with 92 civilians kidnapped by the Israeli army form this northern West Bank city during the reported period. Hebron city, in the southern part of the West Bank came behind it with 80 Palestinians kidnapped there by the army. The rest came as follows; Ramallah, in the central West Bank, 54, Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank, 41, Tulkarem, in the northern part of the West Bank, 32, and Jerusalem 30. Bethlehem 28 kidnapped, Qalqilia, 21 kidnapped, while 9 were taken form Jericho and 4 from Salfit and Tubas, and 7 from villages near Jerusalem and 25 were taken at checkpoints in several parts of the West Bank. The Gaza strip had the least, with 10 Palestinians kidnapped by the Israeli army there. Regarding the Israeli army checkpoints inside the West Bank, the reported by the ISAHR stated that the Israeli army had tightened its procedures on those checkpoints. The report concluded that the Israeli army continued to bomb Palestinian homes which in direct contradiction of the international human right law. Palestinian workers kidnapped by Israeli border police – file 2007 The kidnapping targeted workers who were forced to enter Israel without permission from the army; the workers were mostly kidnapped at several checkpoints in the West Bank and inside their work places in Israel. The Union also said in the statement that the Israeli army continues to implement closures on the West Bank and continue to construct the illegal wall and military checkpoints which prevent the Palestinian workers from reaching their work places in Israel. The report also noted that the Israeli army has decreased the number of work permits given to Palestinians to work in Israel, placing several economical brushers on this meager Palestinian society sector. In its latest report the Palestinian employment study center said that at the end of the year 2007 the Palestinian unemployment rate stands at 50%.
