18 Iraqis Killed, Including 3 Executed by Death Squads and 8 in Mosque Attack, According to a January 17, 2008 Report Three unknown bodies found in Baghdad Baghdad - Voices of Iraq Thursday , 17 /01 /2008 Time 9:19:07 Baghdad, Jan 17, (VOI)- Three unidentified bodies were found in the Iraqi capital Baghdad by police patrols during the past 24 days, an Interior Ministry source said on Thursday. "Police patrols found three unidentified bodies in different parts of Baghdad," an Iraqi interior ministry source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). The source added "two of the bodies were found in western Baghdad's Saydiya neighborhood while the third was discovered in al-Kamaliya, eastern Baghdad.” "All the bodies had shot wounds, mostly to the head," the source pointed out. AM/SK Blast at mosque leaves 22 casualties in Diala Diala - Voices of Iraq Thursday , 17 /01 /2008 Time 9:19:07 Diala, Jan 17, (VOI)- A suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Diala province, leaving eight individuals dead and 14 others wounded, Diala police said on Thursday. “A suicide bomber with an explosive belt blew himself up at Shafta mosque in Ba'aqouba, leaving eight individuals killed and 14 civilians wounded” a Diala police source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq- (VOI). AM/SK Policeman, civilian gunned down in 2 attacks in Mosul Ninewa - Voices of Iraq Thursday , 17 /01 /2008 Time 9:19:07 Ninewa, Jan 17, (VOI) – A policeman and a civilian were shot down by gunmen in two separate attacks in Mosul city, a senior security source said on Thursday. "Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a policeman in Mosul's western area of al-Mosul al-Jadida, killing him on the spot," the director of Ninewa police operations room, Brigadier Abdul Kareem al-Juburi, told Aswat al-Iraq, Voices of Iraq, (VOI). "An unknown armed man shot down a civilian in Mosul's downtown al-Najafi street and fled the scene," al-Juburi added. The civilian was a resident of Mosul's Makhmour district and had a membership card of a human rights society in his possession, al-Juburi explained, noting that 10 suspects have been arrested pending investigation of the shooting. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS/SR 4 policemen, gunmen killed in Salah al-Din clashes Salah al-Din - Voices of Iraq Thursday , 17 /01 /2008 Time 9:19:07 Salah al-Din, Jan 17, (VOI) – Two policemen and two gunmen were killed during armed clashes that erupted in Salah al-Din's al-Shurqat district, Iraqi police said on Thursday. "On Wednesday evening, police forces conducted a raid on gunmen's strongholds in al-Shurqat district's left coast and engaged in fierce clashes with them," a security source from Salah al-Din operations command told Aswat al-Iraq, Voices of Iraq, (VOI). "Police personnel killed two gunmen, while the others fled," the source explained, adding that two policemen were killed and three others wounded during the clashes. Shurqat district is affiliated with Salah al-Din province and lies to the north of Tikrit, the capital city of the province which lies 175 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS/SR
