US decides to provide Israel with more advanced weapons than those sold to Saudi Arabia [ 14/01/2008 - 11:20 AM ] LONDON, (PIC)-- The United States of America decided to provide the Israeli occupation with "smart bombs" more sophisticated than those intended to be sold to Saudi Arabia in order to maintain Israel's military superiority in the region and to satisfy the Zionist lobby members in US who had expressed their dismay at the US arms sale to Middle Eastern countries. The American Administration agreed to provide Riyadh with new weapons as part of a $20 billion package of deals with the Gulf States including the sale of bomb guidance kits, known as Joint Direct Attack Munitions, to the Saudi Kingdom. The Israeli government also dropped its objections to the US arms sale to Saudi Arabia in July 2007 after the American administration promised to give Israel military aid worth up to $30 billion over the next decade. The plan has angered Israel's backers in Washington, who say the JDAMs, which give satellite guidance for bombs, may one day be used against the Hebrew state or at least blunt its power to deter potential foes. Israel has had JDAMs since 1990 and used them extensively in a 2006 offensive on Lebanon. In this context, two Israeli security sources told "Reuters", which carried the news report, that US further mollified the Israeli government that future JDAM sales to Israel would include advanced technologies not on offer to Saudi Arabia.
