Israeli Occupation Intelligence Chief, Yuval Diskin, brags about killing 1,000 Palestinians in Gaza [ 13/01/2008 - 04:47 PM ] OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Yuval Diskin, the head of the Israeli internal intelligence, on Sunday boasted before the government that his army had killed more than a 1,000 Palestinian citizens in the Gaza Strip over the past two years. In a report tabled at the weekly Israeli cabinet meeting, Diskin claimed that all those killed were resistance fighters and that they constituted 5% of the overall number of resistance fighters in the Strip. However, Avi Dichter, the internal security minister, said that the IOF was the target of a war of attrition in Gaza, claiming that the Palestinian resistance had upgraded its capabilities. The government should order the army to change quality of operations in the Strip in view of the continued war of attrition against its forces, the minister said. He called for the displacement of Palestinian civilians living in the Gaza Strip in retaliation to the firing of resistance missiles that caused more than 3,000 Sderot settlers to leave the settlement.
