Baghdad, Jan 13, (VOI) –

Four unidentified bodies were found in the Iraqi capital Baghdad by security forces on Sunday, police said.

"Three of the bodies were found in Baghdad's al-Rasafa section neighborhoods of al-Binouk, al-Husseiniya and Sadr City while the fourth was found in al-Aamil neighborhood, western Baghdad," an interior ministry source told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI) on condition of anonymity.

"All the bodies showed signs of having been shot, mostly in the head," he said.

140 Basra facility guards sacked for committing serious crimes

Baghdad, Jan 13, (VOI) – 

Some 140 guards of the facilities protection service (FBS) in Basra province were fired for having committed "serious crimes," an official spokesman for the interior ministry said on Sunday.

"The 140 guards were proved to have been involved in serious crimes," Maj. General Abdul-Kareem Khalaf told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI) by telephone.
Khalaf did not reveal information about these "crimes."

"The measures come within the framework of a plan hammered out a few months ago to restructure the ministry," he said.

The Iraqi interior ministry has sacked thousands of its staff in Baghdad and other provinces due to "involvement in crimes and having criminal records."

2 civilians wounded in twin bombing attack in Baghdad

Baghdad, Jan 13, (VOI) – 

Two civilians were slightly wounded in a twin bombing attack with two improvised explosive devices that targeted a gathering of people in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, on Sunday, police said.
"Two IEDs went off consecutively near a gathering of civilians, wounding two and causing severe damage to nearby houses," an Iraqi police source, who declined to have his name mentioned, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).
The police sealed off the bombing scene and denied access to civilians for concerns of more blasts.

3 civilians wounded in 2 IED attacks in Babel

Babel, Jan 13, (VOI) – 

Three civilians were wounded when two improvised explosive devices went off north of Hilla city on Sunday, a source from the Babel police command said. "An IED went off near a vehicle boarding two civilians at the entrance of al-Iskandariya district, (50 km) north of Hilla. 

The two were wounded and rushed to a hospital for treatment while their vehicle was destroyed," the source, who asked not be named, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). 

"Another IED attack occurred near a house in al-Iskandariya, wounding a civilian and causing severe damage to the building," the source said. He did not reveal further details. Hilla, the capital of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad.

2 simultaneous explosions wound 2 in Baghdad

Baghdad, Jan 13, (VOI) – 

Two civilians were wounded in two simultaneous blasts that ripped through Baghdad's eastern city of Sadr on Sunday noon, Iraqi police said.

"Two improvised explosive devices went off simultaneously near a gathering of civilians in Sadr city, wounding two and causing damage to nearby houses," a police source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq- Voices of Iraq- (VOI).

Police forces sealed off the scene of the explosion for fear of further blasts, the source added.

Police: U.S. forces killed civilian near Falluja

Muthanna, Jan 13, (VOI) – 

U.S. forces shot down an Iraqi civilian north of Falluja city, a local police source said on Sunday.

"At a late hour on Saturday night, U.S. army personnel opened fire on a civilian vehicle that approached their patrol in Ziraa Degla area, 20 km north of Falluja, and killed its driver, whom they suspected to be a gunman trying to attack them," the source, who preferred to remain unnamed, told Aswat al-Iraq- Voices of Iraq- (VOI). 

The vehicle was damaged in the shooting and the body was taken to the Falluja General Hospital, the source indicated. No comment was available from the U.S. side on the incident.

Falluja, the largest city in the Sunni Anbar province, lies 45 km west of the Iraqi capital; while Ramadi, the capital city of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.

Yaqen.net reported the following:

- A US military base west of Kirkuk was attacked with mortars.

- US forces shelled the Muqdadiya neighborhood with ten shells. Several civilians were killed and injured.

- 2 bodies of Iraqi executed by death squads were found in Mosul.
