2 US Soldiers, 29 Iraqis Killed, Including 8 Executed by Death Squads, According to February 7, 2008 News Reports Yaqen.net news agency reported the following today: - Gunmen attacked the house of a senior police officer in Rutba, resulting in the injury of four family memebers. - Gunmen attacked a US forces patrol in Beiji with two hand grenades, without injuries. - Gunmen in two cars in Tikrit attacked a third car, killing four people inside, including Salem Jabbar Matar, brother of the municipal council chairman, Aref Matar. - US forces detained a 40-year-old Iraqi woman and her 13-year-old son, west of Mosul. The Iraq News Agency (INA) reported the following: - US forces announced that 2 US soldiers and 15 Iraqis were killed today during fighting in Khalis. Iraq amsi reported that the 3 members of the US-recruited Sahwa guards were killed when gunmen attacked the house of Jamil Dawood Al-Zaidi in Al-Muradiyah, south of Ba'agouba. They first allowed women and children to leave, then they killed the three men and destroyed the house with explosives before leaving. *** Car bomb explosion leaves 10
casualties in Baghdad A car bomb explosion left three (US-recruited) fighters killed and seven others wounded in Madain, south of Baghdad, on Thursday, police said. “Group of (US-recruited) awakening (al-Sahwa) council members conducted a search-and-raid campaign to a house believed to host gunmen when a bus rigged with bombs parking in front of the house detonated”, a police source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq(VOI). The source added “the explosion left three Sahwa members killed and seven others wounded”. Al-Madain is Baghdad ’s southern suburb and key
farmland town linking Baghdad to Wassit and Diala provinces. Five unknown bodies
found in Baghdad Iraqi police patrols found on Thursday five

Baghdad, an interior ministry source said. "Three bodies were found in Karrada, al-Shaab
and Palestine street neighborhoods in Baghdad 's eastern side of Rasafa,
while the fourth and fifth bodies were found in al-Hurriya and al-Ghazaliya
neighborhoods, western Baghdad," the source added. A U.S. serviceman was killed when an improvised device went off against his vehicle in western Baghdad, U.S. military said on Thursday. “A Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldier was
killed when the soldier’s vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive
device in western Baghdad Feb. 6”, the U.S. army said in a press release

central Diwaniya A joint forces of Iraqi police and army personnel, backed by Polish forces, besieged two regions in central Diwaniya searching for wanted men, a police source said. "Joint police and army forces, backed by Polish troops, besieged al-Aourouba and Nissan region in central Diwaniya, in search of wanted men," Colonel Ghassan Mohammad told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "A tip-off indicated the presence of wanted men
in these two areas," he explained. Hundreds of Iraqi police and army forces have
been involved since November 16 in the security plan in al-Diwaniya
codenamed Lion's Leap with the aim of hunting down and disarming gunmen
in the province. Unidentified gunmen set eight communication
towers ablaze in the city of Mosul, a police source said on Thursday. "They burned also two more towers in 17 Tamouz and Senaat Wadi Ekab regions in western Mosul, he added. "The burnt towers belong to AsiaCell, Fanous,
Iraqna mobile companies," the source explained, adding no further
details. Ba'aqouba, the capital of Diala, is 57 km
northeast of Baghdad. Four people were wounded on Wednesday when a
roadside bomb went off targeting a civilian car in Khalis, Diala
province, said a police source.
