17 Iraqis from Emad Salim Family Killed in a US Air Raid, US Soldier and Baghdad Police Chief Killed, an Initial February 3, 2008 News Report Yaqen.net news agency reported that today, Sunday, February 3, 2008: - US air planes raided on a house in the Khannassa neighborhood, in Al-Mada'in city. The raid resulted in killing 20 Iraqis, 17 of them were from the family of Emad Salim. Following the US air raid, US soldiers were dropped on the neighborhood. They arrested about 50 people from the same neighborhood, including Shaikh Hussain Ibrahim Al-Nasser, imam of Al-Rahman Mosque (was also reported by Iraq-amsi). - A roadside bomb exploded damaging a police vehicle in Mosul. - An Iraqi civilian man was injured when foreign security contractors fired at him in Al-Allawi neighborhood. 2 civilians wounded in car bomb in Mosul Ninewa - Voices of Iraq Sunday , 03 /02 /2008 Time 6:41:46 Ninewa, Feb 3, (VOI) Two civilians were wounded when a car bomb went off in eastern Mosul on Sunday, the Ninewa police operations room chief said. "A car bomb parked in al-Maliya neighborhood, eastern Mosul, went off near a U.S. army patrol, wounding two civilians near the blast site," Brig. Abdul-Kareem al-Juburi told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). "No casualties in the U.S. side were reported," Khalaf said. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AE U.S. base in Kirkuk comes under mortar fire Kirkuk - Voices of Iraq Sunday , 03 /02 /2008 Time 6:41:46 Kirkuk, Feb 3, (VOI) A U.S. base at Kirkuk airport came under mortar attack on Sunday, the city police said. "A mortar round fired by unknown gunmen landed into the U.S. base at Kirkuk airport in central Kirkuk on Sunday noon," a police source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). AM/AE Federal police chief assassinated in Baghdad Baghdad - Voices of Iraq Sunday , 03 /02 /2008 Time 6:41:46 Baghdad, Feb 3, (VOI) The chief of the Iraqi federal police was assassinated on Sunday morning after unidentified gunmen planted a bomb inside his vehicle in western Baghdad, the interior ministry said. "Unidentified gunmen planted a bomb inside the vehicle of Lt. Colonel Ahmed Ibrahim, the chief of the ministry's federal police affairs. The bomb blew up while the vehicle was going in the Ramadan 14th intersection in al-Mansour neighborhood, western Baghdad, killing him instantly," Maj. General Abdul-Kareem Khalaf, the director of the ministry's national command center, told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). Khalaf did not give further details. None of Ibrahim's escorts or bodyguards was hurt in the explosion.
