28 Iraqis Killed in War Attacks, 18 Turkish Soldiers Killed in Northern Iraq, According to February 28, 2008 News Reports Yaqen.net reported the following news: - 6 people were injured in western Mosul when a bomb exploded targeting a police patrol. - One Iraqi soldier was killed, 2 were injured in Annah, Al-Anbar. - Fierce fighting erupted between US forces and US-led Iraqi forces on one side and Iraqi fighters in Hadithah. - 4 Iraqi soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb near Tikrit. - 3 bodies of Iraqis executed by death squads were found in Al-Qaem. - US forces killed four Iraqis in Al-Shurqat, Mosul. - 2 US-recruited Sahwa fighters were killed near Balad. - Shaikh Dawood Ali Al-Awad, Imam of Al-Khannasah mosque was assassinated by sectarian death squads, Islamic Scholars Association announced. - 2 policemen, a father and his son, were killed in Mosul. - US soldiers arrested two Iraqi women in Al-Adhamiyah. These are the wife and daughter of Hamed Saleh who is in a US prison together with his son Dhafer for three years. Iraqis demonstrated in Al-Adhamiyah demanding the release of the Iraqi women, as this is a violation of the international law as well as it is a transgression on the Arab-Islamic values of keeping women safe from politics and war actions.

gunmen killed in Baghdad A police force killed a senior al-Qaeda leader along with nine of his aides in northern Baghdad, interior ministry said on Thursday. “Police forces killed Abu Talha al-Maghrabi, senior al-Qaeda leader, in al-Tharthar region in northern Baghdad during a track down operation,” General Abdul Karim Khalaf, director of the national command centre, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq (VOI). “They killed also nine of his aides, including
five Arabs and four Iraqis,” he added. Unidentified gunmen kill
two cops in eastern Mosul A father and his son, both policemen, were killed on Thursday by unknown gunmen in eastern Mosul, an official source said. “Unidentified gunmen killed two policemen this morning while heading to work in al-Tahrir region in eastern Mosul,” the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI). “They attacked them, the father and the son, killing them on the spot and fled to an unknown place,” he added. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, is 405 km north of
Baghdad. U.S. forces kill Iraqi
citizen in Muqdadiya The U.S. army in Iraqi said on Thursday that its forces killed an Iraqi citizen in Muqdadiya, Diala. “An Iraqi citizen was killed during an escalation incident on Feb. 27 in the al-Muqdadiya area of Diala,” the army said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq (VOI). “The Iraqi citizen was approaching Coalition forces on foot wearing a bulky jacket with his hands in his pockets. The CF patrol enacted security measures to prevent the civilian from approaching them,” it added. “A search of the man was conducted, but no weapon was found. Coalition forces were not injured during the incident,” the statement added. “The incident is under investigation,” it also
said. Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighters killed 18
Turkish soldiers in remote and mountainous areas in northern Iraq, a PKK
foreign relations official said. "On Thursday, Turkish troops attempted to climb
Shirin Mount and engaged in clashes with our forces, which managed to
kill 15 Turkish servicemen," the source added. Shirin Mount is a rugged mountain chain on the
borders with Turkey between northeastern Arbil and al-Imadiyya area.
