US Soldier, 21 Iraqis Killed, Including 7 Executed by Death Squads, According to February 18, News Reports Yaqen.net news agency reported the following news today: - A US-recruited Sahwa fighters committed suicide with his gun in Haditha, west of Al-Anbar Province. - A US military base in Salahuddin Province was attacked with mortars. - British military base in Basra airport was attacked with two rockets. - US military base in Baghdad airport was attacked with 15 rockets. - 3 members of popular committees were injured by a an explosion in Ba'aqouba. - US base in Al-Saqlawiya, Falloujah, was attacked with several explosives. - A police officer was killed, three of his guards were injured by a roadside bomb in Tikrit. - US Al-Habbaniya military base was attacked with three missiles. - A US Soldier was killed by a sniper fire in Al-Seiniya city, Salahuddin Province. The Iraq news agency (INA) reported the following news: - An attack with mortars on the Baghdad airport area, including US Camp Victory, resulted in killing five Iraqis and injuring 14, in addition to two US soldiers -------------------------------
Five unknown bodies found in Baghdad
Five unidentified bodies were found in the Iraqi
capital Baghdad by police patrols in the past 24 hours, police said on
Monday. "The three remaining bodies were found in al-Rasafa,
eastern Baghdad; two in al-Fadieliya and one in Sadr City
neighborhoods," he added. Police find two
unknown bodies in Ramadi Police patrols on Monday found two unknown corpses in the city of Ramadi, a police source said. "A police patrol found two bodies thrown on the
international road in western Ramadi," the source told Aswat al-Iraq -
Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "The bodies were sent to the Ramadi public
hospital for treatment," the source also said. One civilian was killed on Monday by unknown
gunmen in northern Mosul, an official source said. "They showered him with bullets in front of a gathering of people and fled to an unknown place," he added. "The body was sent to the forensic' medicine
department in the city," the source said. A total of 11 Katyusha rockets hit a residential compound near the Baghdad International Airport west of Baghdad, Interior Ministry sources said on Monday. "11 Katyusha rockets landed on the French residential compound, which hosts the airport's staff, in western Baghdad, without causing casualties," a source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "U.S. forces sealed off the area near al-Aamel
neighborhood, western Baghdad, and started a hunt down operation for the
gunmen," he noted. At least three people were killed and four others wounded on Monday when a roadside bomb exploded in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a police source said. "The blast took place, this afternoon, in al-Iqtesadiyn quarter, northern Mosul, killing three people, including two women, and wounding four, including two policemen," the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq- Voices of Iraq- (VOI). The source said that police patrols were alerted to the presence of the explosive charge but they were unable to locate it ahead of the explosion. Mosul, capital city of Ninewa province, is 405
km north of Baghdad. Three civilians were wounded on Monday when a booby-trapped car went off south of Baaquba targeting Popular Committees fighters, said an official police source. "A car bomb was detonated in Bahraz district, south of Ba'aqouba, targeting a gathering of the Popular Committees fighters, injuring three civilians,” the source, who asked to remain unnamed, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). The Popular Committees are local armed groups formed from tribesmen in a number of cities in Diala with the aim of cooperating with policemen to maintain order and track down gunmen in the province. Ba'aqouba, the capital of Diala, is 57 km
northeast of Baghdad. A gunman wearing an explosive belt was killed and two others arrested during clashes near the city of Samarra, 120 km north of Baghdad, police said on Monday. "Iraqi policemen clashed on Sunday night with gunmen during a raid in the area of al-Jallam, east of Samarra, leaving one gunman who was wearing an explosive belt killed and two others captured," a police source, who preferred to remain unidentified, told Aswat al-Iraq – Aswat al-Iraq – (VOI). "The raiding force also found a large weapons cache containing 100 shells of RPG-7, 100 mortar shells of different calibers, 10 Strela surface-to-air missiles, hundreds of light and medium Kalashnikov and BKC assault rifles and a large amount of ammunition kept neatly underground," the source added. Salah al-Din province lies 110 km north of the
Iraqi capital Baghdad. Two civilians were
killed and another wounded in a blast that occurred
inside a store selling electrical appliances in central Hit, 70 km west
of Ramadi, on Monday, a security source said. The blast "was caused by a bomb hidden inside
one of the electrical appliances," the source said, not revealing the
motives of the attack. A police officer was killed and three civilians
seriously wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off
near his vehicle in central Tikrit on Monday, a police source in Salah
al-Din province said. "The home-made explosive charge also wounded
three civilians seriously and were rushed to the Tikrit Teaching
