In Ninewa, 405 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the mayor of Talafar district, Nijm Abdullah, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI) that the police killed a suicide attacker who was wearing an explosive belt he was planning to detonate inside a mosque in al-Qadissiya neighborhood, Talafar, 60 km west of Mosul. detainees A U.S. civil court acquitted a Marine who stood trial on charges of
killing four unarmed Iraqi detainees, according to a U.S. media advisor
on Friday. Rayan said the case, however, was not over as there are still two soldiers awaiting a court martial on the same scores. Nazario's trial has faced problems when two of his former comrades
refused to testify against him. In addition to voluntary manslaughter, Nazario was acquitted of assault with a dangerous weapon and of using a firearm during a crime of violence. Nazario's trial in his hometown of Riverside, California, has been
closely watched by domestic and international media as it marks the
first time that a former Marine has been prosecuted by a civilian court
for wartime conduct. Fair Use Notice This site contains copyrighted material the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner.
