Israeli occupation army incursions into three West Bank cities

Monday August 11, 2008 10:55 by Rula Shahwan & Marina Ayyoub - IMEMC News

The Israeli occupation army raided the West Bank cities of Hebron, Jenin and Nablus on Monday morning, seizing four civilians, as reported by local sources.

A number of Israeli occupation forces vehicles moved into the village of Halhul near Hebron, where troops seized local Palestinian Sulaiman Saray'a and took him to an unknown detention camp. Israeli troops erected several checkpoints at nearby village entrances and forced curfew on the surrounding area. During the raid, Israeli settlers in Hebron continued to attack Palestinian houses and passing civilians.

In the northern West Bank city of Jenin, nine Israeli military vehicles entered the city and took two prisoners: Wael Shanbar and Ahmed Zayid.

In Nablus, troops raided Balata and Askar refugee camps, cut off the local electricity supply and entered and searched several houses. Two brothers were seized from the camps.

It is unclear as to why these four were specifically targeted and seized by the Israeli military.
