8 US Soldiers Killed, 9 Iraqis Killed, Including 7 Executed by Death Squads Editor's Note: Only God knows how many Iraqis are killed everyday. The following is a summary of what the government news agency, VOI, daily. Readers also may find few headlines of attacks reported by few independent news agencies. What's certain is that the number of Iraqis killed everyday exceeds what's reported. U.S. soldier killed in eastern Baghdad Baghdad - Voices of Iraq One U.S. soldier was killed on Monday
by small-arms fire in eastern Baghdad, the U.S. army said. The death brings the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the beginning of military operations in March 2003 to 4021. SH/SR 11 U.S. soldiers killed, wounded in Baghdad, Diala Baghdad - Voices of Iraq The U.S. army in Iraq said on Monday that
seven U.S. soldiers were killed
and four others were wounded on Sunday in separate incidents in Baghdad
and Diala. For his part, Abdellatif Rayan, the media adviser spokesman for the Multi-National Force (MNF), said that two soldiers were killed and 17 others were injured on Sunday night in mortar attack on the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad. A Multi-National Division Center soldier died from non-combat-related injuries on April 6, the army said in another statement. A Multi-National Division Baghdad soldier was killed by an improvised-explosive device during a route-clearing patrol in eastern Baghdad on April 6. A second Multi-National Division North soldier has died from wounds sustained in an improvised explosive device attack in Diala province during convoy operations on April 6, a third statement said. One soldier was killed as previously reported
and four others were wounded in the attack, it added. The deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers
killed in Iraq since the beginning of military operations in March 2003
to 4020. U.S. forces gun down man, son in Dalouiya police Salah al-Din - Voices of Iraq U.S. soldiers killed a civilian man and his son east of Dalouiya district, Salah al-Din province, on Monday, an official police source said. "U.S. soldiers raided the area of al-Huweija al-Bahariya, (3 km) west of Dalouiya, and opened fire at Abboud Hussein Yassin, 65, and his son Falah, from a close range, killing them instantly," the source, who refused to have his name mentioned, told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI). "The U.S. forces destroyed Yassin's house fence and blew up the gates before they entered the house," the source said. A relative of Yassin told VOI a U.S. force
"raided the house during the early hours of Monday with the company of a
masked man. After they brought together all people in the house, the
U.S. soldiers, referring to the two victims, asked the masked man
whether they were the wanted men. The masked man replied in the
affirmative and then the U.S. forces opened fire at the two of them." Basra morgue receives 7 bodies Basra - Voices of Iraq The Basra morgue received on Monday seven bodies showing signs of having been shot, a medic said, adding the corpses were brought by policemen from al-Asdiqaa neighborhood, 8 km north of Basra. "There were shrapnel that most probably caused the death of those seven people," the medic, who asked not to be named, told Aswat al-Iraq Voices of Iraq (VOI), noting he had no "further information" on the identity of the bodies or how those seven were killed. Meanwhile, the Multi-National Force (MNF) in Basra denied its or Iraqi warplanes launched any air operations on Sunday night. "We have information about a blast late on Sunday night inside a house in al-Asdiqaa neighborhood. The explosion possibly left casualties, but we confirm that the MNF and Iraqi forces had nothing to do with the incident," an MNF spokesman told VOI by telephone.
