Israeli occupation soldier assaults an 80-year old woman at Huwwara roadblock

Monday April 14, 2008 00:18 by IMEMC News

Palestinian sources reported on Sunday that an Israeli occupation soldier attacked an 80-year old Palestinian woman as she was trying to cross the Huwwara Israeli occupation military roadblock near Nablus, in the northern part of the West Bank.

Reporter Romel Al-Suwaity, of the Ikhbariyyat news agency, stated that as he was waiting at the roadblock, he saw an Israeli soldier arguing with the old woman who became  tired and unable to stand at the checkpoint any longer, and insisted to cross instead of waiting behind the long line of residents who were also forced to stand there for an extended period.

As the old lady tried to cross, the soldier pushed her with excessive force and she fell to the ground suffering minor bruises. When she managed to stand up, she hit the soldier with her cane.

Several youth were angered by this violation and started cursing the soldier for his assault against the 80-year old woman. Some high ranking soldiers, present at the scene, apologized to the woman and allowed her to cross.
