Israeli occupation forces attack Palestinian Muslim worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque [ 30/09/2007 - 08:36 AM ] OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation policemen and soldiers attacked at late hour Thursday dozens of Palestinian worshipers who intended to stay on retreat (I'atikaf) inside Al-Aqsa Mosque's plazas, forced them to go inside the mosque and prevented them from leaving. In a statement, Al-Aqsa foundation for the reconstruction of Islamic shrines stated that hundreds of Jerusalemite Palestinians responded to an invitation to spend Friday night on retreat inside Al-Aqsa Mosque as a part of the Islamic traditions, pointing out that the religious retreat extended hours until dawn prayer. Al-Aqsa foundation confirmed that the religious retreat did not appeal to the IOA which ordered its troops to storm the holy mosque at night. The soldiers tried to disrupt the program and surrounded the Palestinian congregation for an hour and a half, but the intervention of the Islamic endowment department in Jerusalem along with the Aqsa Mosque guards prevented the continuation of the siege on the worshipers. Al-Aqsa foundation and the Imams of Jerusalem mosques had invited the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem to spend the night of Thursday until Friday dawn inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.
