Israelis exploit world silence to violate immunity of Palestinian MPs, says Yasser Mansour

[ 27/09/2007 - 11:02 AM ]

NABLUS, (PIC)--

Yasser Mansour, a member of the Hamas-affiliated change and reform parliamentary bloc, stated on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) take advantage of the international silence to violate the immunity of Palestinian MPs and to assault them.

During a meeting with his lawyer, Mansour, who is imprisoned in the Israeli Megiddo prison, denounced the IOFs for storming the house of MP Mariam Saleh in Ramallah and kidnapping her journalist son Abdurrahman Musleh.

The imprisoned MP stated that the IOA continues to detain nearly 40 Palestinian MPs affiliated with Hamas, Fatah and the Popular Front in a clear indication that they consider all the Palestinian national programs an enemy deserving oppression and elimination.

In the same context, the MP called on the democratic governments and parliaments around the world to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to protect the Palestinian people and their MPs who are subjected to arbitrary measures inside Israeli jails.

The MP pointed to the deteriorating health condition of imprisoned PLC speaker Dr. Aziz Duwaik and the indisposition that befell MP Fathi Al-Qara'awi, calling on the democratic world to give special attention to these two MPs imprisoned in the Israeli Megiddo prison, who made many sacrifices to protect and defend the Palestinian people's rights.
