Netanyahu admits to knowledge of Israeli raid on Syria Date: 20 / 09 / 2007 Time: 10:19 Bethlehem – Ma'an – Leader of the opposition Likud party in Israel on Wednesday night admitted to Israeli Channel One that he was informed of the Israeli raid on Syria. "I have been informed of the military operation in Syria since the beginning," said Benjamin Netanyahu. The acknowledgement marks the first formal Israeli recognition of the raid on Syria. Netanyahu expressed his support for Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, and commended his raid on Syria. Other Israeli political leaders have refused to comment on the raid and the censorship has prohibited the release of any details except what is published in the foreign media. Israeli newspapers on Thursday morning stated that Netanyahu's comments were received with anger from the Prime Minister's office and the military. The leader of the opposition was accused of being irresponsible.
