Tuesday September 18, 2007 16:26 by Mayssa Abu Ghazalah - IMEMC News ghassanb at imemc dot org

Israeli border police officers stationed near Beit Hanina town to the north of Jerusalem attacked and injured two Palestinian shepherds on Monday evening.

Hussin Ka'inah, 19, one of the injured men, told IMEMC that he asked the officers if he could bring a plastic bag containing hay for his flock through one of the so-called “Humanitarian gates” in the illegal Israeli Wall. Soldiers refused and attacked the man.

After a nearby group of bystanders rescued the man, a large number of border officers attacked family dwellings near the gate and several innocent Palestinian civilians in the immediate area, including Ka’inah. Ka’inah’s uncle sustained a serious head injury in the attack.

After local residents called an ambulance to the area to help the injured man, Israeli border police refused to grant the Palestinian ambulance to the area, insisting that the injured would only be allowed treatment for Israeli medical personnel.

After an Israeli ambulance arrived one hour later, the officers in question left the scene after an intervention by the Palestinian – Israeli civil coordination office.

A large Israeli army force invaded Shu'fat refugee camp on Tuesday morning, attacking the home of Amjad Jabier, and kidnapping 15-year-old son, Taha.

Soldiers and police doges stormed the home shortly after dawn, forcibly removing the family, searching the home, and kidnapping the boy.

Taha’s mother stated the family tried to visit the child but the Israeli army refused to tell the family where he was being held, adding that no-one would be allowed to visit the boy until his trial. When the family asked where and when the trial would be held, the army refused to tell them.

The family stated that Taha sustained moderate wounds two days ago when Israeli soldiers stationed at the checkpoint separating the camp from the City of Jerusalem attacked him.
