Palestinian refugee dies at Iraqi-Syrian borders due to medical neglect

[ 16/09/2007 - 08:38 AM ]

DAMASCUS, (PIC)--

A Palestinian old woman died in the Walid refugee camp on the Iraqi-Syrian borders last Wednesday due to medical neglect, sources in the camp reported.

They told PIC that the old lady Nazima Al-Samour's health condition worsened over the past few days due to the lack of specialist doctors or any appropriate medicine or medical equipment in the camp.

The sources said that Samour, who was born in Haifa in Palestine, had fled along with her family to Iraq in 1948 after Zionist armed gangs forced them out of their hometown.

Almost 1,500 Palestinians refugees are stuck at the Walid camp on the Iraqi side of the borders after fleeing murder, terrorism and arbitrary arrests at the hands of American occupation forces and Iraqi armed militias.

The number of those who died in Walid camp has thus risen to five.
