Palestinians and Israelis discuss outstanding issues, says Abed Rabo Tuesday October 09, 2007 14:53 by Rami Almeghari - IMEMC rami at imemc dot org Yasser Abed Rabo, the Secretary of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s executive committee, revealed on Tuesday that Palestinian and Israeli delegations discussed many outstanding issues on Monday night. Abed Rabo hoped that more profound talks would give a momentum to next month’s conference on Middle East peace. The Palestinian negotiating team will meet in the next two days with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as her assistant David Walsh, to brief them on results of their talks with the Israeli team, the Palestinian official pointed out. While Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert are scheduled to meet next week, Abed Rabo did not specify any date for the encounter. Abed Rabo’s comments came following a meeting between Abbas and Olmert in Jerusalem last week, in which the two sides failed to agree on an agenda for their next month’s peace summit in Washington. While the Palestinian team proposed the initiation of serious talks on final status issues, Israel, as it has done consistently, refused to enter into such negotiations.
