4 Citizens killed, 25 Others Wounded by IOF in Gaza Strip

GAZA, RAMALLAH, October 29, 2007, (WAFA)- 

Four Palestinian citizens were killed and twenty five others wounded on Monday during an Israeli rampage in Beit Hanoun town and Rafah city of the Gaza Strip.

In Beit Hanoun, three citizens were killed and twenty five others were wounded three critically, when a number of Israeli warplanes bombed the citizens’ houses, northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medics said.

They added that Fareed Abu Awn 44, Mohammed Hamad 28 and Ahmed Abu Awda 24 were killed by the Israeli warplanes.

Meanwhile, a number of school boys were detained inside their schools as the Israeli military vehicles broke into the town.

In Rafah, a forth was killed in the city area of al-Shoka by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), witnesses said.

They told WAFA that Ahmed Abu Tahoun 23 was killed when IOF, backed by dozens of military vehicles and tanks incurred eastern the city and opened its heavy machineguns, firing a number of tank shells against citizens’ houses.

Four Palestinians, and one Israeli soldier, were killed in the early hours of Monday morning when Israeli occupation forces invaded the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, and an area near the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Three Palestinians, including a forty-four-year-old disabled man, and an Israeli soldier were killed when Israeli occupation forces invaded the Gaza Strip in several places Monday morning. 11 other Palestinians were injured.

Israeli occupation forces killed one Palestinian fighter, twenty-two-year old Ahmad Abu Tahun, affiliated with Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades, near Sufa border crossing in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday morning.

Israeli sources said two soldiers from the Golani Brigade were injured in a battle with Palestinian fighters south of Sufa crossing. The soldiers were evacuated to Soroka hospital in Beersheba.

Ma'an later learned that one injured Israeli soldier died of his wounds.

Beit Hanoun under fire

The Al-Qassam Brigades also said that undercover Israeli occupation forces shot a seventeen-year-old student named Ahmad Al-Za'anin in the chest. He was taken to Beit Hanoun Hospital for treatment.

Israeli forces occupied the campus of the Agricultural College in Beit Hanoun before clashing with Palestinian activists.

Israeli occupation soldiers shot and killed a disabled Palestinian man named Faird Abu Awda. Officials at Ash-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said the soldiers shot him twice in the head inside his Beit Hanoun home.

Twenty-three-year-old Hamas fighter Muhammad Hamad was killed when and Israeli drone fired on a group of fighters in Beit Hanoun

Eyewitnesses said the Israeli soldiers withdrew from the area after conducting house-to-house raids. Seven other Palestinians were injured in the fighting there.

Other fighting

Earlier, two Al-Qassam Brigades fighters were injured while attempting to block an advancing Israeli unit in a village near the city of Khan Younis. The Al-Qassam Brigades said they lobbed an explosive device and seven mortar shells at the invading forces.

Israeli forces also invaded the city of Dair El-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, seizing five Palestinians over 24 hours. Two Palestinians were injured in the attack, including a woman named Abu Mughaisib. The invading forces also bulldozed farms and agricultural land.

Meanwhile, Palestinian resistance groups struck Israeli targets in response to Israel's renewed incursions.

The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, the An-Nasser Salah Addin Brigades said they launched a homemade projectile at the Israeli border town of Sderot, near the Gaza Strip.

The An-Nasser Brigades also claimed to have fired two mortar shells at the Israeli military base at Kisufim.

The military wing of Islamic Jihad, the Al-Quds Brigades, claimed to have launched a rocket-propelled grenade at an Israeli military jeep near the town of Al-Qarara in the Gaza Strip.
