Israeli Occupation Genocidal Policies: Gaza hospital affirms inability to provide services due to Israeli siege [ 24/10/2007 - 11:25 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- A Palestinian hospital in Gaza specialized in providing services to patients with special needs has affirmed that the Israeli siege on Gaza and the closure of crossings had greatly affected its ability to provide those services. Al-Wafa' hospital for medical rehabilitation and specialized surgeries said in a statement that the center's services were obstructed and a number of them came to a complete halt due to lack of necessary medicines and other medical supplies. It said that the hospital administration was doing its best to provide the services despite those harsh circumstances, and noted that the staff did not receive salaries for the past five months. The hospital said that the wounded and the handicapped are entitled to proper health care, and added that stoppage of rehabilitation programs and other services negatively affected their lives. It asked the UN to pressure the Israeli occupation authority to end the siege imposed on the Strip and to open all crossings. Al-Wafa'a center is the sole hospital in Gaza providing medical rehabilitation.
