2 Palestinians Killed, 5 Kidnapped, Child Injured, Several Cities Invaded, Population Terrorized by Israeli Occupation Forces Israeli gunboat kills two Palestinian maritime rescuers off Gaza shores [ 21/10/2007 - 07:09 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- Two Palestinian maritime rescuers were killed Saturday night after an Israeli gunboat fired at and destroyed their boat at the costal area of Shaikh Ejleen, west of Gaza city, Palestinian medical sources confirmed. Dr. Mu'awiya Hassanain, the director of the emergency department in the PA health ministry in Gaza, affirmed in a telephone contact with the PIC correspondent that Raed Shamlakh and Nezar Abu Arab, both 22-year-old and work as maritime rescuers, were killed with Israeli missiles, and that their fishing boat was totally destroyed and burnt by the bombardment. For his part, spokesman of the Islamic Jihad Movement Abu Ahmad unveiled that Abu Arab was an Islamic Jihad cadre. He added that Abu Arab wasn’t in any "Jihad mission", and that he was doing his job as a PA employee at the time of the incident. He, however, described the incident as part of the IOF troops' relentless aggressions against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, affirming that his group will not let the murder incident go unpunished. In a related matter, a group of the Qassam Brigades fighters of Hamas Movement survived an Israeli assassination attempt at Beit Lahia city, north of Gaza Strip. Local sources affirmed to the PIC correspondent in the area that IOF troops stationed north of the Gaza Strip fired a surface-to-surface missile at a group of the QB fighters stationed in Beit Lahia but none of the fighters was harmed. However, two Palestinian children dwelling in the area were wounded in the Israeli shelling and immediately rushed to the Kamal Odwan hospital for medical treatment, Palestinian medical sources confirmed. The two children were reportedly in stable condition as Palestinian doctors described their wounds as "moderate". The two men were later identified as Raed Shamlakh, 22, and Nizar Abu Arab, 22. Palestinian sources reported that the two were working as lifeguards along the beach. A statement released by Islamic Jihad claimed that while one of the dead was a member of the group, he was not involved in any operation at the time of his death. The Israeli navy confirmed the attack, but would not give further details. Palestinian fishing rights are severely restricted by Israel occupation navy vessels, which completely controls all access and entry to and from the Gaza Strip. Israeli occupation navy ships are constantly stationed along the Gaza coast, and strictly enforce the one-kilometer (0.6, i.e. less than a mile) limit for Palestinian boats in the water. Security sources reported that the military randomly opened fire during an invasion of Tulkarem, seriously wounding the child. The girl was transferred to a local hospital, where her condition remains criticial. In related news, Israeli military forces invaded several houses and stores in the northern West Bank city of Jenin in the early hours of Saturday morning, ransacking homes and detaining residents. Elsewhere, one Palestinain man was injured near Husam village, located near the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, after being attacked by Israeli settlers. Security sources reported that a group from the Bitar settlement attacked Ameen Hamamra, 33, as he passed the settlement. Israeli occupation soldier injured in clashes with Palestinian fighters in Nablus Date: 21 / 10 / 2007 Time: 10:17 Nablus – Ma'an – The military wing of the PFLP, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, and Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas on Sunday morning claimed responsibility for shooting and injuring an Israeli occupation soldier in Al-'Ayn refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Nablus. The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades reported that a joint group of fighters confronted an invading Israeli infantry unit in an alley of the refugee camp. The Palestinian resistance reported fighting the Israeli soldiers using grenades and other explosive devices. The clashes resulted in the injury of an Israeli occupation soldier. The Palestinian fighters were unharmed in the clashes. Fateh fighters force retreat of invading Israeli unit in northern Gaza Date: 21 / 10 / 2007 Time: 10:40 Gaza – Ma'an – Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of the Fateh movement on Sunday reported that its fighters clashed with an undercover Israeli occupation force, which penetrated a hundred meters into the northern Gaza Strip. The brigades issued a statement saying that "fierce fighting erupted between Al-Aqsa Brigades gunmen and the invading undercover force. […] The Israeli force withdrew and fighter jets flew over the area forcing gunmen to leave, fearing air strikes." Israeli forces invade Beit Jala Date: 21 / 10 / 2007 Time: 10:27 Bethlehem – Ma'an – Israeli occupation forces on Sunday morning stormed Beit Jala, in Bethlehem, in the southern West Bank. The invading forces ransacked five homes in the Tunnels area and took the ID numbers and number plates of four families. The Tunnels area is very close to the separation wall and is expected to be annexed to the Israeli municipality in Jerusalem. Five Palestinians kidnapped during Nablus raid Date: 20 / 10 / 2007 Time: 09:36 Nablus – Ma'an – Israeli occupation forces on Saturday kidnapped five Palestinians in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, after dozens of military vehicles stormed the town. Eyewitnesses reported that eight military vehicles invaded Nablus and Balata refugee camp. The troops raided several homes, claiming to be looking for 'wanted' Palestinians. Palestinian security sources said that the Israeli occupation forces seized one Palestinian from Balata camp and four from the city of Nablus.
