Haniyah government: No one is authorized to relinquish Palestinian rights

[ 17/10/2007 - 11:31 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)--

Tahir Al-Nono, the spokesman for the caretaker government, confirmed on Tuesday that there is no Palestinian party delegated to relinquish the Palestinian people's inalienable rights, especially Jerusalem and the return of refugees, warning of the ongoing meetings with Israeli officials.

At the conclusion of the cabinet's weekly meeting, Annono criticized in a statement received by the PIC the PA leadership in Ramallah for insistence on participating in the autumn conference despite the fact that the Israeli occupation's primary aim is to gain historic Palestinian concessions out of this conference taking advantage of the state of inter-Palestinian division.

In the same context, the government considered that the PA's meetings with Israelis prior to the conference has provided cover for Israel to expand its settlement outposts in the West Bank and to resume building a tunnel underneath Al-Maghariba gate at Al-Aqsa mosque thus perpetuating these aggressions as a fait accompli.

For his part, Mohamed Nazzal, a member of the Hamas political bureau, expressed his belief in a statement to the Quds Press that the autumn conference is already a failure, pointing out that the tour of Condoleezza Rice in the region aimed at saving the conference after it became apparent that the Israeli occupation is not willing to pay any political price.

Nazzal also categorically denied any future possibility of Hamas setting at one table with Israeli officials saying: "The issue of negotiations with the Israelis is not present on our agenda at all, and everything rumored in this regard is either false or a misinterpretation."

In another context Nazzal highlighted that Hamas's willingness to open dialogue with Fateh was not out of weakness, saying: "Hamas is not begging for or scurrying after dialogue. If Abbas wants to talk, he is welcome, and if he closes his ears [to calls for dialogue] and turns his back on us then it is his business, the wheel will not stop and Hamas will continue with its project and programs."
