Israeli occupation forces assassinate a Palestinian activist, Injure 5 in Gaza, Kidnap 9 in the West Bank, including 3 children Israeli occupation forces assassinate Jihad activist, others survive another attempt [ 01/11/2007 - 10:01 AM ] BEIT HANOUN, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) assassinated Wednesday evening a member of the Islamic Jihad Movement's armed wing the Quds Brigades east of Gaza Strip while civilians were wounded in the raid. Medical sources said that Mahmoud Al-Haj, 24, was seriously wounded in the IOF attack in Juhr Al-Deek area that led to his martyrdom while other citizens were injured in the IOF indiscriminate fire. The Jihad armed wing said that Haj was one of its members and that he was on a Jihad mission when he was murdered. Another group of resistance fighters on Wednesday night survived an Israeli assassination attempt near the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing north of Gaza. The IOF soldiers stationed near the crossing fired a land-to-land missile at the group of fighters while in a civilian car wounding only one of them while the others escaped unharmed. Medical sources confirmed the death of the man, identified as Mahmoud al-Haj, 23, adding that he bled to death after being hit by shrapnel from a tank shell. The man was reported to be a member of the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad. Medics further added that at least four other people were injured in the attack, one of whom currently lies in a critical condition. Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli occupation army has stepped-up attacks on the Gaza Strip, after the Israeli occupation government defence minister, Ehud Barak, warned of an imminent massive ground offensive on the coastal region. At least 5 Palestinian policemen were yesterday killed when Israeli warplanes attacked a police station in the southern Gaza Strip. Various Palestinian factions promised that they would retaliate for the attack. Brigades launch projectile at Israeli military post Date: 01 / 11 / 2007 Time: 10:56 Gaza – Ma'an – The Al-Aqsa Brigades, the military wing affiliated to Fateh, claimed responsibility on Wednesday evening for launching a homemade projectile at the Israeli military post of Megen east of Dair Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. The brigades said in a statement that the shelling came in retaliation for the Israeli policy of targeted killing against the Palestinian leaders.
