Israeli occupation forces assassinate Jihad activist, others survive another attempt

BEIT HANOUN, (PIC)--

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) assassinated Wednesday evening a member of the Islamic Jihad Movement's armed wing the Quds Brigades east of Gaza Strip while civilians were wounded in the raid.

Medical sources said that Mahmoud Al-Haj, 24, was seriously wounded in the IOF attack in Juhr Al-Deek area that led to his martyrdom while other citizens were injured in the IOF indiscriminate fire.

The Jihad armed wing said that Haj was one of its members and that he was on a Jihad mission when he was murdered.

Another group of resistance fighters on Wednesday night survived an Israeli assassination attempt near the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing north of Gaza.

The IOF soldiers stationed near the crossing fired a land-to-land missile at the group of fighters while in a civilian car wounding only one of them while the others escaped unharmed.

A Palestinian man was killed, and several others wounded, after the Israeli occupation army on Wednesday afternoon attacked Juhr al-Deek village, in the central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources confirmed the death of the man, identified as Mahmoud al-Haj, 23, adding that he bled to death after being hit by shrapnel from a tank shell.

The man was reported to be a member of the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.

Medics further added that at least four other people were injured in the attack, one of whom currently lies in a critical condition.

Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli occupation army has stepped-up attacks on the Gaza Strip, after the Israeli occupation government defence minister, Ehud Barak, warned of an imminent massive ground offensive on the coastal region.

At least 5 Palestinian policemen were yesterday killed when Israeli warplanes attacked a police station in the southern Gaza Strip.

Various Palestinian factions promised that they would retaliate for the attack.

According to Palestinian sources, more than 70 people have been killed by the Israeli occupation army fire in the past four months, while only 12 Israelis have been killed by homemade shells over the past three years.

5 Citizens Wounded in Gaza by Israeli Shelling

At least five citizens were wounded on Thursday morning when Israeli warplanes shelled a neighbourhood in the Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun.

Medical sources reported that paramedics faced impudent to reach the site to evacuate the wounded around agriculture college in the twoun .

The ongoing Israeli offensive on the lands closed to Beit Hanoun town resulted in claiming the injury of eight citizens.

Israeli occupation forces kidnap 9 Palestinians, including 3 minors

Israeli occupation forces kidnapped nine Palestinian citizens including three minors on Thursday morning in the central West Bank village of Al-Mazra'ah Al-Qibliya west of Ramallah.

Local residents told Ma'an Israeli occupation forces carried out another campaign in the village last Sunday and kidnapped 13 people. They said those kidnapped took part in the demonstration last Friday protesting against the illegal Israeli Land-Grab, Apartheid Wall.

Abu Ali Mustafa launch projectiles at Sderot

The military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Abu Ali Mustafa brigades, claimed responsibility on Thursday morning for launching two homemade projectiles at the Israeli town of Sderot, in the western Negev.

They said in a statement that "Israeli criminal acts will not go unpunished."

In a separate incident, Islamic Jihad's Al-Quds brigades said their combatants detonated an anti-personnel mine near an Israeli undercover force trying to infiltrate in eastern Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Brigades launch projectile at Israeli military post

The Al-Aqsa Brigades, the military wing affiliated to Fateh, claimed responsibility on Wednesday evening for launching a homemade projectile at the Israeli military post of Megen east of Dair Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

The brigades said in a statement that the shelling came in retaliation for the Israeli policy of targeted killing against the Palestinian leaders.
