Dr. Naseer Aruri is a renowned
Palestinian intellectual. Born in Jerusalem, Chancellor professor
(emeritus) at Massachussets University, he is author of numerous
books on the Palestine-Israel conflict, served on the board of
directors of Amnesty and Human Rights Watch and is a founding member
of the Arab Organization for Human Rights. He frequently comments on
radio and television networks in the US and internationally
It is 40 years since Israel
invaded and occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. 40
years of occupation. Popular opinion undeniably is shifting away
from reflexive support of Israel. More people are saying
"ENOUGH"! And Canada's government increasingly is at odds
with this shift.
June 2007 is a time for us to take another reading of the political situation, in Palestine and here, a time to rededicate our energies to ending the occupation and the current siege.

The Fourth Room, made in 2005 by Nahed
Awwad, explores the life of Nabil Jameel, a Palestinian
shop owner who lives in Ramallah. A man in his sixties,
Nabil rents several locked rooms. He is the only person
with the keys. Nabil's rooms provide stability amid the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Inspired by real events, filmmaker Saverio Costanzo's feature debut, Private [2005], is a psychological drama about a Palestinian family of seven suddenly confronted with a volatile situation in their home that in many ways reflects the larger ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel. Director Costanzo has created a unique occasion for both Israeli and Palestinian actors to work together, and being an outsider himself, he has worked to maintain a neutral standpoint while dramatizing the conflict. The film was inspired by real events and won a Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival.
