Abbas meets King Abdullah of Jordan ahead of Sharm El-Shaikh summit Date: 24 / 06 / 2007 Time: 11:32 Bethlehem - Ma'an - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived on Saturday evening in the Jordanian capital, Amman en route to Sharm El-Shaikh. Abbas will take part in a summit with Egyptian President Husni Mubarak, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. President Abbas will meet on Sunday with King Abdullah of Jordan before heading to Egypt. Abbas will update the Jordanian king on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories. Earlier, the spokesman of the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudaina, announced that the Sharm El-Sheikh summit would be an opportunity for President Abbas to "concentrate on the need to lift the siege completely and revive the peace process, with the aim of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders." He added, "The president is interested in achieving positive results."
