5 Spanish Soldiers Killed, 3 Injured in South Lebanon

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that five Spanish soldiers were killed and three were injured by a roadside bomb targeting their armored vehicle, through a remote control device.

Spanish soldiers are part of the UNIFEL forces observing the Lebanese-Israeli borders.

Lebanese political parties condemned the attack on Spanish forces, saying that it aims at spreading chaos to south Lebanon after the north. Prominent condemnations came from Hizbullah, Amal, and Future parties.

Shaikh Abdul Amir Qabalan, Deputy President of Highest Shi'i Council, said the perpetrators aim at spreading their "constructive chaos" to south Lebanon and to punish the south for the Israeli defeat on the hands of Hizbullah last summer.
